How are we doing?

So I'm thinking...

A Busy Week in Edmonton & Ottawa

It has been another busy week for all of us at WIND.

The week started in Ottawa where we did some final tweaks on the network to allow for a Technical launch and invited a few government people to a ‘reception’ to celebrate us turning the network on. What does this mean? Well, for those of you subscribing to WIND in other cities, you can now consider Ottawa as part of your Home.

The Ottawa network extends from Orleans in the east to Kanata in the west. It also crosses the river to the Gatineau Hills and all the way to Buckingham. We made a decision not to start selling (as we have a few more sites to come on air) but we have a strong network in my adopted home town. The next few sites will really bolster the offering and allow us to be in stores with a more extensive and reliable network very soon.

Highlight of the week was Edmonton! Yes, we launched in the City of Champions. The home town boy (Chris) should be proud. We launched with 5 stores and a strong network that will get stronger over the coming weeks. Thanks to all of our technical and retail team in Alberta for an exceptional job. Edmonton promises to be a great city for us. I'm back in Toronto today, after an insane week, but I am proud of these launches and happy that the WIND Home has expanded and is now available to another couple of million more Canadians.

I couldn't anything about whether was a prepaid option during my travels around the site. Is there such a thing? I don't use a cell enough to warrant a monthly plan, and do very little texting.

Coolpup: You can prepay any of the plans. So if you want you could by the phone and pay $90 for 6 months of prepaid service that would give you 100 minutes per month + 50 texts per month. You would have to pay $130 minimum for the phone though.

For comparison's sake with Speak-out from Seven 11 you could buy a phone for $60 and then prepay $25 for 100 minutes that would last you 365 days. Text messaging eats into that $25 dollars though at $.10 each.

Basically by the phone for $130, then prepay $90 + Tax for 600 minutes + 300 texts that last you six months vs. by the phone for $60, then prepay $25 for 100 minutes and no texts that last you a year.

Or, again with Speak-out, by the phone for $60 then prepay $100 for 400 minutes that last you a year.

Must be nice being able to do that, I use on average around 1600 minutes/month when I'm trying *not* to use my phone. =d
