Wow! Over the past two days we’ve seen a lot of interest from our members and everyone else about our services, handsets, and general launch plans. The latest “leak” really generated a lot of buzz.
The reality is that as much as we’d like to come to the market with at least a bit of a surprise, the more people we talk to about how we’re going to change the Canadian wireless market, the more people share it. This is true whether we’re talking to media, distribution partners, agencies, and newly hired staff.
The challenge with this type of second- and third- hand information though is that it’s usually just a reflection of the truth, and not fully accurate. We’re still not releasing details of our service plans or handsets until launch, but it’s great to see the excitement!
We do have some major milestones to share with you.
We’ve already begun construction on our first 8 stores, including our Toronto flagship store. We’ve had several people ask where we’re going to launch—specifically wanting to know if we’ll be in their neighborhood. We’ll be building out stores in many different neighborhoods, but for our flagship store we grabbed a retail storefront in a prime downtown location on Queen St. See the full album on our Facebook page.
We’ve also started session #1 at our training academy in Mississauga. Hundreds of in-store and call centre people will spend the next three weeks learning about what we will provide customers: the best customer experience in the country.
Well, i guess we are all excited about Wind's lunch. Even thou it seams like that day will never come!
And of course it would be nice to know what kind of plans/phones you will bring.

From the look at the picture of the flagship store though, it would seem that this might take a while. Tell those guys in that picture to work faster!

Well I hope the stores will be located in major hubs and dispersed well, wouldn't want to go off the beaten path to reach a store. I got a hot tip for you, Scarborough Town and Fairview have really begun changing up the malls, there are a couple of spaces to lease out ... how about it move in on one of those malls as I go near both everyday on my way to work or school.
Also from the pace of things, I would say a Launch in about a Month from today, all bets are open.
Do I hear a November 16th, anyone else want to have a go?
Unconfirmed rumours I heard are per minute billing ! not per second !
and Long distance is only within province to protect the YAK long distance
business.
Tonysingh - please highlight "unconfirmed" in your next opinion. Informed consumers know the relationship and I don't think either YAK or Wind will easily open up themselves to a marketing nightmare open for abuse by the "others" without weighing heavily. Probably best to hold on to our shorts and wait for reality to hit at launch.
This forum is a good idea but obviously vulnerable to rumour mongering.........
