Plans, Handsets, Prices!

Thanks everyone for your overwhelming response. We're working to get the shop section of the site back up soon! In the meantime, here are the basics...

Here's what we don’t have:

What we do have:

  • Nation-wide coverage with a domestic roaming partner
  • Unlimited calling (incoming and outgoing) in the GTA and Calgary to start, followed by Edmonton, Vancouver and Ottawa in early 2010
  • Unlimited WIND to WIND calling across Canada included on all plans

Many of you are asking what's the difference between a WIND HOME Zone versus a WIND AWAY Zone?

At WIND, when you are in HOME Zone many services are available to you for free.

When you are in a WIND AWAY Zone, some services will cost a bit more:

  • Calls to anywhere in Canada or the U.S. (all destinations): 25 cents/minute
  • Any calls to you: 25 cents/minute
  • Any text messages you receive (from anywhere in the world): free of charge
  • To use the Internet on your phone: 10 cents/25 kB

To make sure you don't accidentally rack up a huge bill, when you are in a HOME Zone, your phone will say HOME, when you are in an AWAY Zone, your phone will say AWAY.

Despite the numerous comments in the last several days WIND has ignored the many voices calling for a moderate $25 price point. That is most unfortunate.

would've been nice if is a cheaper plan for let's say 2GB for $25. For me and I guess for many others, unlimited is not necessary.

Really? $15 isn't cheap enough? How about $15 + $5.00 for Voicemail and another 5 for unlimted text?

    $15 voice + $10 social blackberry?

    Isn't that 2 plans for $25?

I would propose a $25 plan that enables you to use your existing phone (that Blackberry is pricey of that is cost and I don't care for the others, 250 minutes province wide, data usage. I couldn't care less about social networking but require casual use of the phone province wide and data like stocks, weather, email etc. Is that really too tough to handle for you guys at WIND? I don't think so. So lets see if you can get it right by doing something for people like us. Thanks. QT1

The Social Blackberry plan is a nice touch. One problem though, I don't have or need a Facebook or MySpace account. It'd be awesome if they could be substituted with other apps in the same social vein, for example, Twitter. And does the Social Plan include email?

These prices really aren't that great. I see no incentive to move from my current provider. I was expecting greater savings from the big hype about Wind.

Not good enough, you have to be in your Home Zone in order for these to be effective, otherwise you will get a bill that will make you wish you stayed with your current provider.
