How are we doing?

So I'm thinking...

What I Can Tell You About Our Service

Thanks for the words of encouragement and the critiques that you’ve posted since we launched last Monday. They’re all appreciated. A lot of the comments on the community have been asking the same thing… “yadda, yadda, yadda, … but what are you offering”???

It’s a fair question: What will we bring to Canadians? We’re keeping the details of handsets, plans, and prices quiet until we launch (I would like some bit of surprise for the market and the competition). What I can tell you is how we will act in the market.

We will not spend a lot of time or money marketing to you. “Marketing” as a verb is dead. Some marketing people have yet to accept that, but it’s true. One-way, push marketing that focuses on just “selling” doesn’t work. So instead of marketing to you, we’ll listen to you. Because we believe that people are more inclined to buy from, and engage with, a company based on delivery of real value (however the customer defines it) and real affinity for what the company stands for.

Value: That means more for less. Think better pricing. Global levels of pricing and approach. And we’re not charging for fictional things like system access fee, 911, … gravity, … oxygen,

Simplicity: Do people really want 20 different price plans for a commodity like voice. Really? Not something we’re going to do. Ask yourself how many plans you’d expect. That’s right.

Control: If your plan is $50, your bill should be $50. That’s control. Do you know what a kilobyte of usage looks like? I don’t. Do you even know how many minutes you use on a monthly basis? I don’t. Control means not having to care. And control means you stay with us because you want to, not because you have to. No contracts.

Dialogue: It’s a conversation. Although people tend to think statically – “what are you bringing to market”? – the reality is that we’ll get some things right (a lot, I think), and we’ll get some things wrong. How will we know? By listening. Are you going to like everything we do from day one? Maybe not (probably not), but that’s the point. It isn’t about “marketing”. It’s about a focus on customers, plus some humility combined with experience and expertise, and a killer team of people to make it happen.

And what will people say about us? Let’s see…

Good one but don't give them (the competitors) any ideas!

    This looks very promising...

I would offer at least 5 types of plans:

    1- Voice/text only
2- Data only (ex. 3G USB keys)
    3- voice/text > Data
    4- Voice/text = Data
5- Voice < text/Data (for heavy users like me)

Chris what have you done? You've put the excitement back into the waiting! This is just a little glimpse of what WIND holds.

As I was reading I thought "this guy is just beating around the bush" but once I finished reading your post I realized you gave a lot of information.

Thanks for the update. The cellular future is bright once again.

He says marketing is dead. Wind is the only new entrant that has been marketing. They had wireless soap box and now this site. these are all marketing tools, they have been marketing to us for a year now. I dont know why he is saying marketing is dead if his company has been doing it a lot ( a year). I hope his company does not lie like how he is.

Thanxs for listening! Wind Mobile is the first wireless company to actually HEAR us. I am looking forward to your launch.

Once Telus is done trying to ATTACK you, they can start working on improving their service. You are the role model for other wireless providers.

    @hello (x2) :)

You have to read between the lines just a little. He says that marketing is dead, yes, but he is clearly saying that marketing as we've come to know it is dead. The type of marketing where companies don't listen to what their customers want, they TELL their customers what they want. In fact, they tell us we want what they have (whether it's true or not). What Wind Mobile (along with other savvy marketers) is doing is talking to us. Is that a form of marketing? Sure it is. But at least they are listening and they are (hopefully) going to give us what we want.

Is it a lie? Maybe just a bit. I'm not going to hold it against them though, because I understand the point they are trying to make :)

Does the fictional things include "Call Display and Voicemail" charges? Please don't make Canadians pay for those...

Those are NECESSITIES on a mobile... I rather pay extra for texting...
