WIND MOBILE LAUNCHES IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

TORONTO – December 16, 2009 – WIND Mobile, a subsidiary of Globalive Holdings, marked an historic day for wireless in Canada today by becoming the newest national wireless provider in Canada in over a decade.

As a part of the official launch in Toronto, WIND Mobile unveiled a 20-foot monument as a tribute to the tens of thousands of Canadians whose conversations helped to shape Canada’s first truly competitive wireless operation. WIND Mobile stores opened today in the GTA and will launch later this week in Calgary. The company will be rolling out in Vancouver, Ottawa and Edmonton in the new year. Outside of its coverage area it will provide national coverage through a roaming agreement.

“Today marks a new chapter for wireless in Canada,” said Anthony Lacavera, Chairman of Globalive and WIND Mobile, addressing hundreds of WINDmobile.ca community members who came to witness the unveiling and reveal of the first WIND Mobile store in Canada. “Thank you to the thousands of Canadians who have helped us to build WIND Mobile. We’ve listened to those conversations, and now we’re very proud to announce our offerings as a direct result of all the feedback. WIND is Canada’s company. Built by Canadians, for Canadians.”

The WIND brand was created with the input of an overwhelming response from the public. For over a year, Canadians were engaged in conversation through Globalive’s online Wireless Soapbox campaign as well as the WINDmobile.ca site – becoming vehicles for Canada’s wireless revolution.

“We’ve heard from Canadians that they want value, honesty and simplicity,” said Ken Campbell, CEO of WIND Mobile. “We’ve heard overwhelmingly that they’re tired of high prices, poor service, limited technology, and complicated billing. They are tired of system access fees and contracts. Today, we’re thrilled to respond to all this feedback by presenting WIND Mobile – a company that is entirely focused on delivering an exceptional customer experience.”

The WIND Mobile experience will include the following features:

• No activation fees
• No contracts on any services
• No system access fees
• No fees for Enhanced 911 services
• Never a charge for an incoming text
• No charge for incoming long distance calls
• No penalties for changing or cancelling a plan
• Unlimited WIND to WIND calling across the country
• Unlimited province-wide calling from a WIND Home Zone
• All plans include caller ID, missed call alerts, call waiting, call hold, call forwarding, unlimited conference calling – all at no extra charge.

Services available include three simple unlimited voice and text plans and four unlimited data plans.

Five handsets/devices available showcase the latest in wireless technology:

• BlackBerry Bold 9700
• HTC Maple
• Huawei U7519
• Samsung Gravity 2
• Huawei E181 data stick

“Our offering is simple. We want to make it as easy as possible to be a WIND customer. We want to give more control over the mobile experience than ever before and get it all at an affordable price,” said Campbell.

“We’ve been listening and we’ve been inspired by the power of conversation of all things wireless in Canada,” said Lacavera. “But the conversation isn’t over. We will always be listening to how we can make things better.”

Congrats to Wind Mobile! One question...
    1) We signed up to be a non exclusive dealer months ago and at one point actually received an email requesting our corp number but since then it has been silence. I have emailed over 4 times and no response. Please advise.

Loves the sounds of this. This is great for the Canadian carrier market. This puts pressure on Bell, Telus, and Rogers, they wont be going down without a fight.
I'm am still waiting to see a wider variety of phones before I make my switch to Wind.
