WIND Mobile Stores Feature Microsoft Surface

Toronto – January 21, 2010 – The launch of WIND Mobile in August 2009 marked more than the promise of a new national wireless carrier in Canada. It marked the acceleration of a conversation between Canadians and a company dedicated to redefining what a positive mobile experience means in this country.

To date, the exchange between the public and WIND Mobile has been fast and furious. For over a year, starting with the online Wireless Soapbox campaign and continuing with WINDMobile.ca, people have been sharing ideas and opinions about how to improve wireless, bringing the brand’s founding principle to life: Providing the best wireless experience by having conversations with – not talking at – the customer.

WIND Mobile has introduced the same kind of interactive and innovative conversation with its customers for its in-store experience, by launching its stores with Microsoft Surface – the pioneering multi-touch, interactive computing platform that responds to natural hand gestures and real-world objects. Microsoft Surface has been customized and embedded as a core feature in most WIND Mobile stores across the country.

“This is a true match of technology and brand philosophy, and the integration has been seamless,” said Melissa Clark, VP of Sales, WIND Mobile. “People love seeing, touching and learning from the Surface technology and this is only our initial vision. This amazing interactive tool will continue to be a central part of our retail experience.”

As a consultative tool, Microsoft Surface allows customers to compare devices and plans side-by-side, helping to identify the options that work best for them. Information is made available quickly, clearly, and in one layer of engagement. Subsequent versions of the application will focus on the customization of services and devices right off the Surface unit.

“The brand has a simple philosophy, that “conversations make things better,” said Mike Kasprow Trapeze’s Creative Director, the agency that worked with WIND Mobile to bring the Surface technology and application to life in the stores. “We wanted to develop an application that wasn’t technology for technology sake, but one that brought the brand alive through conversation, and also helped customers to learn and join.”

The roll-out of Surface for WIND Mobile stores is the largest deployment of Microsoft Surface in Canada.

Wow look at everyone turn lol I also agree that this post seems a little misdirecting. You launched your service in December and to this day still have problems. After 30 days, These major network outages, text problems, dropped calls, all should not exist. Im sorry Wind, I want you guys to succeed but it just seems like one big problem after another, and I dont think we are new here can cut it anymore

I was in a WIND store and played with your Surface setup. It seems to be miss-configured or not as responsive as the other MS Surface I've played with at Microsoft Events and Conferences.

I wish that you would quit advertising that you have MSGARBAGE. NOBODY IS INTERESTED.

If I had a store, I would be truly EMBARRASSED to be using ANYTHING MS.

Instead of wasting time to bring M$ inside Blockbuster, please do yourself a favor and send your "experts" to negotiate a good contract with bestbuy and amazon. Just to get some exposure. "As a consultative tool, Microsoft Surface allows customers to compare devices..." Hey, Wind... but you don't have any devices. None. Nada. There is nothing to compare. You only have one phone, you realize this, right? And that phone will definitely not attract many clients with blocked ports and no tethering for $70/mo. At least try to get some entry level from Nokia as opposed to that Huawei j**k. Sell it for $50-60. You've already lost the high end Sony to Rogers. Android is expected to boom this year. Just do something. This is a different department- not tech, to secure deals with all these providers so please don't explain us that you have to expand the network first.

    Eh, WHAT high end sorny?
The only thing I've ever seen them produce is CRIPPLEWARE. The X10 is no exception. It may have some android in it, but it is crippled to uselessness with their proprietary garbage.
