But like any other business you need to compete for my money. The day your plans were officially announced I decided to jump on a corporate plan. I have not signed a contract and I can leave at any time I wish. I would truly love to be a Wind subscriber but my monthly bill would go up by more than 50%
This is what I get from Bell:
-250 anytime minutes (billed by the second)
-Unlimited evenings and weekends after 6pm
-Unlimited incoming calls
-Unlimited Text
-Voice Mail
-Caller ID
-No system Access Fee or 911 fee
-long distance 8 cents a minute
-10 cents a minute if I go over 250 minutes
Total Cost $22 + tax
Data Plan
500mb
Total Cost $25 + tax
Total Monthly Cell Phone Bill = $47 + tax
If I was to move to Wind my bill would be $80 + tax
Yes I would get unlimited minutes but I don't go over the minutes I get included in my Bell Plan.
I would love to move to Wind but the only way that is happening is if I can get a better plan or at least something similar. Wind you have left out a large amount of people who will use more than 150 minutes but far from using 1000s of minutes and for users who don't tether to there laptop and only need unlimited on device data.
I have decided to wait a few months unless something changes at Wind and see how the prices go. Dave Wireless is supposed to be launching soon and we'll see what they have to offer. If any new company either Wind Mobile or Dave Wireless can match my current plan or offer me something better, I would be more than happy to ditch Bell. The idea with you guys was that our monthly bill not go up but we would get more value for the money.
I am not here to say Wind is terrible or anything, actually when I get in a conversation about phones I always say something positive about Wind and even recommend you. I hope someone at Wind reads what I have to say about what is currently being offered and realizes that some things do need to be changed and quickly. The more you wait on adding in a cheaper voice plan $20-$25 and a cheaper data plan the worse it is for Wind. There are probably many people that call in at Rogers, Bell, or Telus who call to cancel but get put on call with retentions which offers them a great plan maybe something similar to what I have and they get locked for 3 years again. Its hard to get people paying for unlimited when they were always limited but offered something cheaper. This is my opinion and I hope opinions like I have were the reason why the conversation was started.
@ Ron - Do you stay within the GTA? You obviously do if you stay within the Budget Bell gives you. If I go to a neighboring town that is long distance from a 416 number, Bell charges long distance on the incoming calls. I have complained about that for a long time and it fell on deaf ears. My job takes me to Burlington, Brantford, Collingwood, Brampton, ect... That used to really bother me about Bell. Have you had the same experience?
Wow thats a really nixw plan but again, that is a corporate plan so. Most customers would not even get this kinda plan so you might need to wait a while before Wind adds more options in their plans and so forth. I would totalyl love you plan tho lol, cuz Im currently stuck on Bell contract and its the worst plan ever. Anyways, I also think that some of their plans need to have some balanced minutes. Sure you get unlimited free calling for $35 and $35 plan but not everyone needs that. Teens I would say text mostly and need just like 150-250 minutes probably, depends tho.
No I do leave the GTA but long distance is just 8 cents a minute.
@ Ron - if I read things properly, isn't it that ALL incoming calls on the $35 and $45 plans are free? Or do you still pay $.25/minute.
I discovered this about 2 months ago http://www.yak.ca/product/yak-cell/overview I wish I knew about it a long time ago. It's even cheaper than Bell's rates if you plan on staying with Bell, this is just a suggestion.
WIND Cares
Hey Ron,
Thanks for all the support you showed from the time of wirelesssoapbox.com and your plan seems very nice however it is a corporate plan that not your average user can get. Chat, Talk, Shout are the plans we have come out with right now but we are always listening to the community. Keep checking in with us to see if any new plans or changes have been made.
Thanks!
Tabish – Wind Specialist
I agree with Ron 100%, and in another post I clearly stated the same identical point of view with the same exact history of being at Wind the hay days of the wireless soapbox.

Retention line or corporate line, does not make a difference. What Wind has to realize is that all the people on the market today are people coming out of a contract or already out of a contract. All of us are eligible for plans that are not available to the average first time customer ... may explain why we are hardened and not impressed with the current plans. Yes some will see unlimited as a selling point, but it is truly designed for a small segment ... the majority won't use beyond 1000 minutes, nor require data plans that have 5GB and over. To us it's all a marketing gimmick, we know as far as digital mobile data goes there is no room for gluttony, and unlike a home internet service ... mobile is constrained by the hardware.
My plan that I got on retention is:
*250 day time
*unlmtd. eve/wknds after 6PM or 7PM I forget
*fido2fido
*no saf or 911
*1000LD
*free voicemail
*2500 text messages (free incoming)
All for $25, with taxes it comes to like 27 a month ... does Wind have a better or equal proposition? Currently not, the plans are not appealing without having a $25 plan.
Also the data plan sucks, come on at least admit that. We the users only have one choice of unlimited ... which is limited. The whole point was to make data accessible, not more harder to obtain, get your act together folks and that reply is pure shortsightedness.
I understand about the data plan... however, anyone that I have responded to re:voice plan that they are currently on, does not stay within their perscribed allowance from their service provider and needs long distance plans, ect... Point being that they don't just pay what they signed up for. If you are able to stay within your prescribed plan, then you have a good plan... There are too many variables to determine what your needs are... but if you travel, even just to neighboring towns... most plans are not suitable because although you don't get charged for roaming, they charge you for incoming long distance and if your long distance happens during the day.... they also dip into your anytime minutes. Short sighted.... not at all... I think it's more like clear boyance.
