Wow! Gotta love the passion. Very cool. I have actually been communicating with EIPI (the first person I saw the issue from) over the last two days. You are right that the "issue" is not well understood internally. As we had no "evil" plan to restrict access, it's not something that most staff are even aware of. Until now. So, thanks again, for highlighting this. We have no interest in restricting applications, and - besides protecting our network, our business, and other customers - we haven't intended to put in limitations. I've asked for a simple, easy explanation and communication that will be posted today, along with the ability in our Customer Care Tech team to handle any issues.
at chris wow at least you and wind resolve problems rather than saying oh well to bad so sad like rogers does with droped calls,
All those support tickets and calls aren't going to the right people then. The problem has been brought up 3 weeks ago.
Glad to see that it's been escalated to those who can enact change.
However, CSRs being unaware of this issue is disappointing.
That is the WIND I know. Keep it up.
Cheers Chris. Thanks for the update. Personally, I'm tired of all the reactionary comments on this topic. I hope it all stops soon.
Thank you Chris for looking into this. It's a show stopper for anyone trying to use your network to manage remote systems. I use SSH, a widely used application on Windows and Linux, to administer web servers. It is a low bandwidth, secure application that is accepted by a wide majority of the security community. FTP and SFTP also have issues. I would like to see Wind restrict high-bandwidth use if required to protect themselves, but the way it is, it's more of a blanket instead of a net to catch the big offenders.
thats what we expect from wind..keep it up and get this resolved
I'm glad this is being addressed! I am delaying my N1 purchase, or any smartphone/data plan purchase because of this!
