So I'm thinking...

I do believe I read that before and I think it's been posted, and I'd just like to say, BULL S**T.

The industry is not super competitive. if it was they wouldn't be giving us less and charging us more. look at data and mobile browsing prices since the iphone first came out. remember when they had $15 unlimited plans (i believe telus had them)? and I think rogers used to have $30 for 6gb of data (one of my friends has it). now look at the prices of the data addons at rogers. Sure there was no tethering but, honestly, I'm not going to use tethering since anywhere where I use my laptop I have WiFi. just looking at what's being offered now and how the prices increased and the amounts given to consumers fell, how can you honestly say it's competitive? it's cartelization.

anyways, what the article fails to mention is Data price. and the charging of incoming minutes as well. just look at plans in the states with data and tell me that wireless is cheap in Canada. I'm pretty sure I'd slap anyone who tried to tell me that.

also, I don't mean to belittle $150 mil but it's a multi BILLION dollar industry. 150 mil is smaller than some of the incumbent's quarterly PROFITS. just though I'd get that off my chest.

Thanks for that link Aldagr8, I needed that!
The author doesn't seem to take sides but the quotes are hilarious :))

"Industry reps say from 'coast to coast' customers are very 'well served,'" - well, what else could they possibly say? we are happily screwing our customers?

"The wireless industry is baffled by some of the criticism." So would I be in their place. It works very well for them, thank you very much. Nothing to complain about...

""There's no reason why Bell, Telus or Rogers can't make long-distance free or a lot less expensive; they've just chosen not to," Grant said." - well, of course there is a huge reason - less profit. Oh, and then give those customers free long distance, and then who knows what they will want next... can't have that...

And then there is this gem:
""We're doing everything we can to listen to our customers," said Telus spokesman Jim Johannsson."
That's just priceless :) I deal with those guys at work, o my... to get anything done you have to complain for months until you are blue on the face.

You are welcome Chris125. I thought in the beginning that this article was actually written to support for WIND but the comments made by the Telus and other Reps were hilarious enough to make it worth a glance.

I have no idea WHO i have been talking to in Telus for the past 2 years but my monthly bill hasn't come below 70 bucks (And I am not even using a Data plan). I Dread the day i buy a Smartphone with Telus :P

I understand your frustration Clumpen due to the wait for the Launch Confirmation. I am going nuts too Refreshing the Community section for WindMobile :). Hopefully I hear the Good news by the end of this week :)
