Thanks for the email addresses. Will shoot them both an email :)
Thank you for the email address. I just sent Jack Layton an email. It read as follows:
Dear Mr. Layton,
It seems that there is only a yes and a no answer when it comes to Globalive launching in Canada. Actually, it appears to be more than just about foreign investment as there doesn't seem to be any effort made for a middle ground.
Industry Canada erred when, following a standard review period, Globalive had been granted its license, having met the eligibility requirements specified by Industry Canada to become a spectrum licensee. That is not Globalive's fault, but Industry Canada's. Tony Clement has the obligation to make things right by giving Globalive a conditional okay to launch while giving them 5 or more years to meet the CRTC's standards of foreign ownership. If Globalive fails to change its structure then the CRTC would not renew Globalive's licence and the company would cease to operate.
Your voice is heard and respected. Please, do the right thing and speak out for Globalive and give them the consideration they deserve - a temporary okay to operate.
Thank you for your time.
I just got an email from my MP's office because I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just Mr. Garneau that was speaking up. He said Mr. Garneau was representing Liberal Policy. I think that's a good think.
I don't know what I'm going to write Tammy but I'll think of something! beginning project emalious blastous!
Both emails now sent. If you know more email addresses for people that could make a difference, post them up please.
I hope this gets the point across, I just emailed what was on my mind
Gentlemen,
I am writing you because I don't know who else to write to; online forums and blogs have gotten the message across and Canadians want choices. Choices compared to the Oligopolies that currently price gouge our public with outrageous rates that from the outside in, other countries and market places almost make us a mockery.
I am talking of course about allowing Globalive to operate in Canada; it encourages competition which is healthy for our market place. I may be wrong, I've been wrong before but does Canada not have one of the worst penetration in the mobile sector in terms of users of cellular devices? Shouldn't Canadians have choices, and more of them?
Most people would want foreign investment and most people would encourage competition (as it drives our rates down) and some companies (Globalive, Dave Wireless) have figured out how to bring Canadians what they have been looking for.
I know that one email probably will not encourage you to go out and change our nations history and I know that one person can't make all the difference but I do know that you have a strong group of Canadians that are behind you every step of the way.
Without a doubt, RO-BEL-US (Rogers, Bell and Telus) will put up a big fight because they are the ones benefiting from the dramatically high rates but it goes without saying that Canadians will keep on fighting this war on in-justice and I hope that you guys join us and fight for the right side; the side of what the people want, not what's good for a big corporation; the side that will allow average Canadians to have cell-phones without putting a second mortgage on the house and finally, fight for what you feel is right.
Perhaps this is one of the many emails you've received from Canadians and I hope that I was not rude in any way, I also hope that someone took the time to read it because I understand that you guys must be overwhelmed with emails at the moment.
Have a splendid day,
Yours truly,
Canadian Citizen
