How are we doing?

So I'm thinking...

How's it going? Actually, I started to look at my posts and noticed Ron had already answered the question for me. It had to do with my Blackberry and weather or not it would work on WIND's system. Apparently it won't. But if you have some time to chat, there is some other things I would like to get your point of view on.

Sorry about that. I got distrated. I don't know if you are away, but I posted a question on Howard's Forum about what people really thought the issue was as to why Globalive was refused by the CRTC. I asked was it the law? What it because they weren't playing fair? OR was it because the incumbents influenced the CRTC's decision? I was just curious what you thought about that. I mean after all. You sure do seem to know a lot about the issue.

Well I noticed that you didn't comment on the thread. I know you and I like to spar a bit, RJ.

Ohh well it was a legal issue that got them, it is hard to get past when someone else holds all the debt, has all the experts in the field, and and appears to make all the choices for them. On paper saying you have all the control is also a grey area when a reasonable person would argue otherwise. What I know is through all the hearings and all the debates structure and control was the issue.. it was from the beginning so i have to ask why did they not solve that? Had they we all would have LOWER rates and thats what people here want most. Foreign ownership is a topic allot do not care about.

But isn't foreign expertise/best practices a good thing? In my opinion, If WIND can run a better shop because of it, that will only benefit the incumbents as they'll also work towards eliminating any deficiencies. In the end, the industry becomes better.

I noticed you didn't have an issue with foreign debt or you weren't terribly crazy about the CRTC. But I heard someone say the 65% equity does not mean ownership and/or control. CRTC approved the Canwest Goldman Sachs deal where Goldman had 65% of the total equity, 33% of the voting shares and 67% of the non-voting shares. So how is Globalive different???

RJ, is it because of the foreign expertise???
