We can’t unlock your phone for you but you could get in touch with your current carrier or a third party company who can unlock it for you. We can only provide you with service or generic support that includes general settings. Unfortunately we are not able to troubleshoot or provide extensive support for non-WIND devices.

You can get an unlock code for a WIND purchased phone from Customer Care or in My Account if you meet these conditions:

• Your service must be active or fully paid up
• You must pay the unlock code fee ($30)
• You must stay with WIND for more than 3 months (90 days). Unless you bought your device outright (then you can request the code immediately).

 

What is WINDtab?

WINDtab lets you reduce the amount you pay on a phone by putting a portion of it on a tab which we pay off as you pay your monthly bills.

Your WINDtab balances decreases by an equal amount each month. The reduction is calculated by dividing your WINDtab balance by the number of months until Pay Off Promise. 

If you need to leave WIND before you've paid off your WINDtab it’s no problem as you’re not locked in. Just pay whatever balance owed on your WINDtab when you leave. 

Plus with WINDtab, you have the option to make larger payments if you wish. 

Any eligible Pay After customer can use WINDtab towards the purchase of a new handset. Eligibility is determined by a credit check, so make sure to bring a valid credit card and government photo ID when you visit WIND store to get a new phone on WINDtab. Depending on your eligibility, you may qualify for more than one WINDtab - but you can't have more than one WINDtab per line.

Can I transfer my WINDtab to another line?

We’re sorry, but you cannot transfer your WINDtab. You can transfer the ownership, but you will need to pay the remaining WINDtab balance first.

How do I check my WINDtab balance?

You'll see your current WINDtab balance on your monthly bill. You can also check your WINDtab balance at any time by logging in to My Account with your phone number and PIN

Step 3: Select Mobile Network.
Step 4: Ensure Data Services is toggled to On.

Step 6: Under Access Point Name (APN), enter internet.windmobile.ca (leave all other fields blank).

1. Enter “Text Messages”
2. Settings -> Select Text Messages (Change SMS and MMS Settings) -> Select “Advanced”

While your phone is being diagnosed and repaired, we will do our best to provide a loaner device with similar operating system to your own. For example, if you have a Samsung smartphone we will try to lend you a Samsung device, subject to availability. Fees may apply, a deposit will be required, and available loaner models may vary.

When using a loaned phone, you will be able to keep your phone number. When your repaired phone is returned to you, your phone number will transfer back to your own device. Learn more on our page about Warranty & Repairs.

Please note: if your loaner device is lost, stolen or damaged while in your possession, the replacement cost of the device will be deducted from your deposit. Loaned devices that are not returned will no longer be authorized to connect to any cellular network. Full program terms and conditions available here.

The manufacturer's limited warranty for defects to your WIND Mobile device is valid for one year from the date of purchase, with the original bill of sale. There are some exceptions, such as Lightly Loved devices, which will be noted on the bill of sale.

If your device proves to be faulty within the first 15 days of purchase, return to the original store where you purchased your device, and upon determining your device’s warranty eligibility we will exchange it for a new device at no extra charge. The faulty device must be in pristine condition, and all accessories and packaging should be returned in order to receive a replacement device.

Within the first 15 days of activation, you can also sign up for WIND’s Phone Protection Plan. Visit your nearest WIND store for details.

After the 15th day and up until the 365th day after the date of purchase, you can visit a participating WIND Warranty Store where we will send your device away for repair if the WIND Specialist is unable to resolve the problem.

​The manufacturer’s limited warranty does not cover defects or damage caused by: improper storage; damage from liquids; unauthorized modification; misuse; neglect; abuse; accidents; alteration; improper installation; abnormal operating conditions; events outside of human control (such as natural disasters).

A Lightly Loved phone has either been returned to WIND within 15 days of the purchase date in working order and without physical damage OR has been refurbished by the manufacturer back to working order without physical damage.

Visit us at any WIND store to upgrade your phone. If you currently have an active WINDtab, you can still upgrade, just make sure you are eligible. In order to upgrade a WINDtab, the original WINDtab must be at least twelve months old. If it is, you are qualified to upgrade your device with another WINDtab. You will need to pay the remaining WINDtab balance and the new WINDtab balance will be reflected on your account.

WIND works with every phone manufacturer to enable the latest Operating System on your phone.But just in case, there are many things you can do to ensure you always have the latest:

• In your phone settings menu, follow the prompts to check for the latest software. You can also set some phones to check for updates automatically. In that case the phone will prompt you whenever the newest software becomes available.
• Go to the phone manufacturers website to make sure the Operating System is available for your phone
• Follow us on Twitter or Facebook for the latest updates

Our mobile internet sticks will work on any computer with a USB port and the minimum system requirements. You can also pair any WINDspeed mobile internet stick with our Wi-Fi router to make a portable Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 5 devices (including tablets like the iPad). Want to skip the middleman? Some tablets support WIND SIM cards. Our network is AWS (Advanced Wireless System) also known as 1700/2100 MHz. You can purchase a SIM card from WIND and activate mobile internet service for your laptop on that SIM without needing to buy a WIND mobile internet stick.

WINDtab Boost allows you to get more money towards the price of your new smartphone. It allows you to pick the plan you want and match that with the price you want for your new phone. It's available on any of our smartphone plans from $35/mo to Pay After customers who are eligible after a credit check. Adding $5/mo to a smartphone plan gets you up to $250, $15/mo receives up to $450 and $25/mo receives up to $650. 

If I’m already a customer, can I still get the WINDtab Boost? 

Yes you can. Existing Pay After customers who have been approved for WINDtab can choose to take the WINDtab Boost when upgrading their device. You won’t have to change your existing plan either, the WINDtab Boost will be added to your current monthly rate plan. Pay Before customers or Pay After customers who haven’t been approved for WINDtab should visit their nearest WIND store to see if they’re eligible.

Previously, we applied 10% of your monthly payment towards your WINDtab. As of March 22, 2016 an equal amount every month will go towards reducing your WINDtab.

This change does not impact your monthly WINDtab Boost payment.

Here is how we now calculate your monthly WINDtab reduction:

We will be automatically applying a one-time credit adjustment to current WINDtab customers who would have retroactively benefited from this new WINDtab formula.

How does the WINDtab change benefit early upgrades?
In the vast majority of cases, this change will make it easier to upgrade early because your WINDtab balance owing will be lower.

Here is an example of what this would look like for a $250 WINDtab.

Old calculation:
$40 monthly plan fee x 10% = $4 monthly WINDtab reduction
After 12 months: $4 x 12 = $48 total WINDtab reduction
$250 - $48 = $202 balance owing

New calculation:
$250 ÷ 24 months = $10.42 monthly WINDtab reduction
After 12 months: $10.42 x 12 = $125.04 total WINDtab reduction
$250 - $125.04 = $124.96 balance owing

What will happen to my Pay Off Promise after March 22, 2016?
Nothing. The date for your Pay Off Promise will not be changed.

Does the change to WINDtab affect my WINDtab Boost fee?
No. If you have a WINDtab Boost fee you will continue to pay for this each month.

Will my monthly plan be impacted by the changes to WINDtab?
No. There are no changes to your monthly plan fees or features as a result of this change.
