I agree. I certainly hope WIND will be covering at least Gatineau and environs with their Ottawa/Outaouais license.

WIND has a license for western Quebec (Outaouais).
The Outaouais region of Quebec is not in Ontario. I hope WIND realize this... WIND have obtained spectrum in Quebec (10 MHz Ottawa/Outaouais). I find it very disconcerting every time I see official statements that WIND have no spectrum in Quebec. I live in Gatineau (Outaouais) and I hope WIND will be covering Gatineau from launch as part of the Ottawa license area... I am afraid WIND will just use their Ottawa/Outaouais license to cover the Ottawa region of Ontario only :(
@bret The iPhone didn't work on any UMTS frequency at one point... nothing stopping them adding 1700 MHz support now. It's only a matter of time before most new phones destined for the North American market support that frequency.
This still doesn't answer my question about Québec. Will you be offering service in Gatineau, Québec? You have the spectrum...

You Canadians are funny. I have 6 thumbs down for asking a legitimate question... Is it because it is Quebec related? Get over yourselves.
@boss.x Just to clear things up. If you read my comment you would have seen that I asked specifically about Gatineau, Quebec. WIND do in fact have spectrum covering Gatineau. They have a license for the Ottawa/Outaouais region. I understood perfectly well what Chris said. That is why I said it still doesn't answer my question as WIND have some Quebec spectrum. You pasted what Chris said as if I didn't understand... Maybe people didn't understand what I was asking. It doesn't help that WIND constantly say they have no Quebec spectrum when in fact they have a license for ...
@ShawnLancaster - Vidéotron (which is owned by Quebecor, not Rogers) did not obtain exclusive spectrum rights for Québec. Public Mobile, Mobilicity and WIND Mobile also obtained various licenses covering different areas of Québec. WIND Mobile already have these rights you speak of for the Ottawa/Outaouais spectrum area. Vidéotron, which obtained the Eastern Ontario / Outaouais license, will be operating in Eastern Ontario just as WIND Mobile will operate in the Outaouais. @djino - Hey djino ;-) I'm waiting for an answer about that 819 porting issue too as Jonny's contract ends at the end of March !
There is a coverage map on the WIND site that shows the planned coverage throughout 2010. Not that hard to find... http://care.windmobile.ca/Support/StoreLocator/store-locator.aspx
Why do we need a new SIM? Rogers, TELUS nor Fido need a new SIM. I thought WIND were supposed to be a modern company... I called today to port and was told I'd have to get a new SIM. Where I come from in Europe, I've been with four separate companies and never needed a new SIM. You usually get a temporary number until the port request is processed so this doesn't make sense... I asked if I could cancel my account and they also said I'd have to do it at a store... I find that hard to ...
No Europe is GSM. A phone number can always be changed on an active SIM. You don't need a new SIM. I ported to TELUS HSPA while I had an active SIM. That is really all a Port-in entails... a change of number on the SIM... the porting itself is back-end. I can call TELUS right now for example and tell them to port my house number to my SIM and it will be done within an hour. Was the same with Fido... and Fido even send you an SMS to let you know the port was successful! Even WIND ...
@djino Hey! Still living in secteur Gatineau yea. Coverage is great everywhere I have been !
