Different bands my friend, Apple needs to make a compatible phone. Wind would love to offer it if it could, im sure of it.

I had the same problem but fixed it on my 9700. On your phone, set it to use 3G only, this will cause your phone to ignore Roger's 2G network (WIND Away). Had no problems since. Also, when it say's no service, if its just a short time, thats because it's switching from Wind Home and Wind Away. My solution should help.

Wind gave us a means by which to communicate in a meaningful way, and they will grow and continue to innovate. Some individuals have felt that Rogers, Bell and Telus may have listened to them at different times, but when was the last time we've ever felt as a community that the Big 3 actually listens to us?

The iPhone operates on a different set of frequency, it is common to Rogers, Bell and Telus' HSPA networks. Wind uses an AWS variant of HSPA which is completly different, the iPhone, such as it is today, will not pick up a signal offered by Wind.

Wouldn't turning off 3G on a Wind phone effectively put you in a Wind Away zone (Connect you to Rogers EDGE)? Sounds like an expensive solution. Also, this has to be a glitch with the phone, one of the most important features of HSPA 3G is the ability to talk and use Data at the same time.

Honestly, not at the moment. Not til the exclusivity with AT&T in the States runs out.

My girlfriend was going through the same issue just recently.. she's with Telus however. Frustrating, yes, but it can happen with any carrier, I would follow Faisaljee's advice.

Let the consumer choose, since Google is the one selling the phone, Wind probably won't have too much control over the price. Though in all truth, all Wind needs to do is convince Google to let Canadians buy it, even unlocked, Wind is the only choice for anyone using a Nexus One who wants 3G (and who wouldn't want that).

I understand that they aren't an ISP, but the mobile phone business model is starting to evolve. Hopefully, Wind or the some of the others catch on. As long as the consumer gets value in the end. Why pay for minutes if you don't need 'em?

Absolutly, as that is the business model as designed today. However, I'm sure they can make it work. A dead mobile carrier is a bad one, I support their need for profit. If Google Voice were in Canada, the Chat plan + Unlimited Data would do fine, since Google provides vm, sms and other services, I just wouldnt give out my Wind phone number and only the Google Voice one. It would be a great value, but my point is that I would still be paying that $15 for nothing (Regardless of the fact that I would be saving tons ...

You guys have the right idea here with this policy to provide the unlock codes for your phones. I can't say if the industry will follow suit any time soon though, RoBeLus seems to really love the concept of contracts.

It's an out of date phone, IF they brought, I hope it would at least be updated (at least more memory so that it will better work with future software updates.)

@Kevin, if you were outside of the WIND Home area, on any other carrier, you would be paying long distance to make calls (except local to where you are at the time). WIND Away rates are much cheaper than those long distance rates and thus WIND is still the better deal.

Apperently that Data connectivity issue is due to the phone apparently preferring EDGE over 3G when set to look for both. If the phone is set to look for only 3G it works fine. I haven't used the Nexus One but I read this somewhre last week, so I could be mistaken if some new info about this glitch has come out.
