I agree with those saying that Wind needs presence in the big stores ... or stores for which cater to wireless needs. The blockbuster idea was neat ... but to be honest blockbuster has only one way to go, and that is online. Soon their storefronts will be disappearing, so get new partnerships while blockbuster can still afford rent.

Although I know it doesn't help, but I must for the obvious sake of repetition say that this site blows in its current form. It needs a proper forum. Critical information is old news by the time it goes to the second page, this is why there is soo many repeat posts. Also how can this help in solving network issues if the platform isn't even organized. A proper forum/ messageboard with organized categories ie. (Technical, General, Site Related, Announcements, Lounge, Requests, Promotions, etc...) should be made. What this is currently is a zoo, no point in posting anything worthwhile ...

Wicked news, awesome ... really this will do many things in terms of competition. Truly the game begins today, as effective as today people who have a contract can now renogotiate better terms. Thank you Wind for giving us the weapon of competition and choice. Now more phones (N900? When?) and a $25 plan, a bit more variety in data options is all that is left and this will be a true sea change in the wireless world.

When can we expect plans that reflect what potential customers want? I keep saying a plan in the range of $25 would be a good thing, and so have others. Please plug the band gap between the $15 plan and the $35 plan, currently this leaves us no options. Also what about a data plan that is cheaper and not unlimited ... we really need this. The whole point of a new wireless carrier was above all to give consumers service options and critically plan options. Wind is falling short of the latter!

Yep I've been following the whole CRTC debacle, and from Throttling (proverbial pan) to UBB (proverbial fire) we the consumers are totally been gouged when it comes to internet access. While I understand the Wireless internet prospect that Globalive holds, I wonder how Globalive can compete with triple play options offering landline last-mile internet. As for the implementation of UBB, Yak Internet will be merely a Bell resale as it no longer can differentiate nor offer higher speed ... this must be a blow. That is what peeves me off ... Wireless internet is convenient data, landline/ lastmile home internet ...

@Rockjock, I think the phones aren't locked out ... the Phones would be locked. Two completely different perspectives. One is barring unlocked phones from coming onto the network, the other locking phones which are subsidized by contracts from going elsewhere. Actually this brings me to ask Globalive, expand on this please ... perspective buyer here is there any truth to what Rockjock said or is it the alternate as I said? $700 is not an issue as I've bought my e61i brand new with my money at the time for roughly $549. I have no regrets, it's a solid phone ...

I actually don't mind Carriers getting some fast cash because of user incompetence. Most cell-phones now a days come with a USB and a method of adding your own ringtone. Get the song, edit it yourself, and add it to your phone. If you can't do that then, I guess you value the 10 minutes of your life and so for convenience sakes you are willing to pay $3. Also believe it or not, ringtone fees are mostly set by the distributors and rights holders. They dictate the price and sometimes it is absolutely off of the Carriers hand/ control, ...

Well lets hold off on judging until further details come out. I don't like the sound of this aswell ... but if I remember Globalive at the time said they will offer 2 brands just like (Fido/ Rogers, Telus/ Koodo, Bell/ Solo/ Virgin) now a cheaper Yak service may have this whereas the Wind brand is for more serious business and customers who wouldn't put up with selling a bit of privacy for cheaper plans ... I can welcome that not shoving this in the mouths of every perspective customer.

No not an evolving ringtone, a common ring tone for all Wind users. Imagine I'm in a bus and my phone rings with a Wind tone ... instantly it reinforces the brand on current customers and has an effect on friends of that customer ... it's an indirect way of communicating brand awareness. Just like that distinct Nokia tone, which every Nokia user knows, and every one who hears it knows it's a Nokia. Also if you don't have an option who's fault is that? @Blade, Honestly if your friend thinks an iPhone somehow improves who you are and makes people have a more positive perception of him than please remind him to get back to reality and stop being delusional. Please don't combine the Wind marketing/ sales/ product advertising section with a user Portal ... keep the two separate. I want to do my online billing, and service upgrading/ settings, etc on a site where I'm not bombarded with ads asking for me to join. Please get rid of that marketing survey that seems to never remember you saying that you didn't want to participate from popping up every time you visit the site. This doesn't necessarily mean it'll sell like hot cakes, but it means that this phone should be easy to market. Yep the big 3 do definitely need to be taught a lesson. Pledging allegiance to Wind now is too premature to do, while I give them the benefit of the doubt I still would hold off on making an argument like the above for the sole sake of waiting to hear if they can deliver or if this whole thing was just a mirage/ fantasy. Wow Eryn I've been spamming this phone on quite a few posts for last few weeks and you notice tomatoeblue's 1st post ... feel kind of slighted :( . I wish to know more about whom I am supporting. Competition is quite important, but what does Wind intend to make competitive ... some details is needed. Treat Voice as Data not minutes is a perfect suggestion ... sell us just data allotments and run it like a VOIP operation. Seriously this is the best idea so far and simplifies a slew of problems on the way we look at calling currently.

It's a phone service not an enterprise grade CMS system. My dad used to work for Magna and he used to bring these promotional corporate priced plans that had competitively priced plans from Bell and Rogers designed for workers of Magna. If it is done in a managed way you get to partner up with corporations that embody your brand ... like if you want the hip and the young then Plans customized for the likes of Starbucks workers, or H&M or any big retailer. If you want a brand that shows sophistication and Business then make Corporate plans available ...

Hmmm roaming across Canada? So this means that the minute I leave Toronto and reach Sudbury I'll be paying Roaming fees like I do now? This then means no Nationwide wide calling plans and this has been a major crutch of the current competitive environment. I'm speculating but that does seem as to what was hinted on by Aileen?

There is a poll on this very here site which shows the percentage of people who pay at a certain range. $10-$29 --> 21% $30-$49 --> 30% $50-$69 --> 25% $70+ --> 23% Now we could all breath a sigh of relief if we paid less, but psychologically I already pay this amount because that is what I can afford so that means I could put up with my current rate if I couldn't then I would of reduced my monthly long time ago. This is the phone for this year and it will be available around Oct. 1st ... even if this isn't carried I would get it but before I do I need to know if this will be carried and subsidized on Wind if not then can my own unit be allowed on Wind's network seeing as they can do an IMEI block even if the phone is AWS 1700MHz capable. I agree the n900 is the phone of this year. It has the OS that is based off Debian, which makes it more like an OS for the desktop. From the video reviews this thing is quite responsive and it was the early prototype builds. This although could have a significant blowback just as their window dressed SAF right now has people scoffing at them for what it truly is. Imagine you get locked out of the network, it would incentivize you just as well to leave that company. The people who are also considering there own phone but realize that a unlocked phone wouldn't work on Rogers would go somewhere else where there dream phone could work. Man why would someone vote down my post? It is centrist, and provides a pragmatic assessment. It wasn't pro Rogers or anti Rogers, neither was it pro Wind or anti Wind, so begs to ask the question why? It didn't fan a rumor, rather pointed out as a business this is a risky decision which can have consequences "blowback". I hope for a better competition in the Wireless market, but above all I hope Globalive can bring true competition to also the landline side of things ... (I'm talking about POTS, TV and the Internet) in the long run. Knock out the Incumbents, and I hope Orascom owner Naguib Sawiris doesn't bail-out after period set out in the business contract. If anything, you guys should work on diversifying the foreign ownership mix while at the same time lobbying for the ability to allow for greater foreign investors as clearly our current situation doesn't favor the entrepreneurial spirit. The thing is this protectionist laws are extremely outdated and does the consumer no good. So what is your point? If you are here then you believe that competition is a necessity in this current atmosphere. You are right there are no guarantees as they haven't said anything which is binding as you correctly point out. They may even have horrible plans, on launch date. But I'm guessing you strongly believe in the need for competition which compels you to return to this website. Agreed as well ... and actually just as I would expect the results are quite skewed and not representative of the general population. The members here are the savvy, first adopters who are well aware of the news and changes in there surrounding. The vast majority are the misinformed who to this day don't know what is coming or what is at stake. Hey dummy do you know business? Plans and phones are the biggest service differentiators when it comes to competing. These guys will only have the consumers attention for a limited time before incumbents ratchet up a price war. If they release the information too early, the sharks will change their plans to circumvent the impending market shock or at least make there plans seem not big of a game changer. Heck I too will order it if not carried but I would like to get guarantees that it will run un-impeded on the network. Also it would be better if my carrier did carry it so I wait and see if they will carry it, I don't want to buy it then find out the Nokia will be carried later on.

The iPhone does not support the AWS spectrum, and Wind has early on came out and stated they won't be carrying it because it won't even run on their network. They teamed up for providing 3G and LTE technology for Wind's AWS network, but I think this doesn't necessarily mean they deal with phones at the same meetings as usually the bidding companies send the sales unit of that specific devision. That is the world of big business, inefficient and redundant.

Well I hope the stores will be located in major hubs and dispersed well, wouldn't want to go off the beaten path to reach a store. I got a hot tip for you, Scarborough Town and Fairview have really begun changing up the malls, there are a couple of spaces to lease out ... how about it move in on one of those malls as I go near both everyday on my way to work or school.

If I understand they are already doing this with there own setup brought over from using technology by a Canadian company named Dragonwave. The particulars of pricing are not public, but certainly the technology was chosen to reduce cost on the strategic backhual segment ... where most incumbents have more invested in Wireline which costs more because the technology wasn't viable when they started building out.

Where is Bell going with a non-Canadian company, please be more specific as the above is quite vague. Is it a surprise, well not really because this is all about money and they have reasons for doing this as it will effect there bottom line and shareholders will be left angry. Well I agree, there has to be a healthy growth of Profit it is a business after all. I think what you are seeing is many people with many expectations, some realistic and some off the wall. Yeah the CRTC is quite out of touch with the Canadian Public, the very same people it was designed to protect. Hey great blog, and you already have a Rogers Rep responding to you in record time ... shows that competition will get you to actively use the web to communicate ie. Rogers in this case, a year ago they wouldn't even cared. Yeah I hope the official Wind website after launch would keep some of this community inspired features and highlights. Well I think they are busy running their training expo, remember a 3 week training marathon mentioned in one of the tidbits. Nothing going on here means that they are so busy putting the words already made here into action, which is a good thing after all. I'm also sure they are drumming up interest, this would mean that when the CRTC debate is over on the 29th expect information to begin trickling out on an expedited rate. Again the launch will be somewhere mid-November, and I've been told by a reliable source what day ... not gonna steal Wind's ...

What is publicaly available is that there will be 3 Plans. They won't charge 911 and SAF, Caller-ID and Voicemail will be included in the plan (don't know if in each plan). The 29th of October is when the CRTC hurdle is overcome. I believe they intend to release more information after that point so people are hyped and ready for a mid-November launch. Wait 1 week and details will become available from Wind.

Hey not an employee but I would be more specific about your problems if you need help. Besides isn't there some sort of help desk that is designed to handle such issues. If I had to take a wild guess, could your problems be Browser specific ... some websites tend to have difficulty under a certain browser. I would recommend Firefox if it's the browser that is acting up IE6 to 8 are all iffy. Good luck, and I tried to sign-up, seems this is a employee portal hmm... interesting. Is this like a Wikipedia? Hey it's not much, but if you need a Canadian Investor I have $7000 to invest just so that I can see Bell, Rogers, and Telus sweat a little. Create a Trust Fund where Canadians can invest ... I'm sure there will be a great response. Anyways I am also dissappointed in the CRTC's decision. Personally I think they could of bent the rules on this seeing as the Ownership rules are outdated and un-necessary in Today's Globalized market. The fear back then was that an Investor would take money "Capital" out of the Canadian economy and not put investments ...

I'm sure there is a bunch of wholesale ISP's, small IT firms and other companies interested in investing ... just design an equitable framework and open it these interested parties. Make sure to open it to individual investors as well. This will be a way we can put our money where our mouth is. The difference with this type of business is that we now even campaign passively for it as it effects our bottom line.

So any updates, I read a report where Anthony Laceverra pretty much sums up that negotiations with financing has all but stopped because the decision made by the CRTC made such choices more volatile. What is going on? What are politicians doing? Have you guys went to Cabinet already? Why not create a Trust where Canadians can invest ... what is the plan?

We want action now not this slower than molasses responses. Think about it, by the time reform of the CRTC and a IT streategy is brought up for discussions real companies like Globalive/ Wind, TekSavvy, Acanac, etc... would be gone becuse of the current CRTC decisions. What we need is an immediate and swift action on the Wind case. A direct open access to wholesalers to the last mile (our houses). These two priority cases need to be resolved immediately and then the CRTC needs to be reworked as an entire institution.

While on the mobile aspect he is correct, Terrence Corcoran is no advocate of what is right for Canada. He is totally against the notion of net-neutrality and has advocated for the use of Throttling and Capping peoples net use. I hold those values dearly, and believe the Internet above all mediums needs to be open to access and not a gated community ... look the use of DPI and throttling to me is equivalent to the Great Firewall of China, such a shame. They still want to hold such things like distribution partners under a shroud of secrecy. No offence, I associate naivety with someone who is too optimistic and ignorance with someone who is too cynical. I make my decision in quite a logical way, the overall trend is that as more competition arrives the better for consumers. As time goes and some of the new competition caves under pressures we'll see a creep back to old way and old nickel and dime policies. It is the way things are ... so knowing this it is better we rally around all new comers and truly be a consumer market that drives prices down ... don't become complacent ...

From my industry experience I think what is going to happen is this will go to Cabinet. Once the motion is taken to cabinet, it throws the CRTC's decision in limbo ... making Wind come out not even effected by the decision. But Cabinet will later have to put the issue to rest by either allowing Wind to proceed or to change/ revoke license. This is what happened with Bell and the Speed Parity tariff imposed by the CRTC on behalf of ISP wholesalers/ resellers. Bell didn't like the outcome, and took it to cabinet. They would also take a bigger beating if they forcasted a rosy quarter and in reality they lost money. The reason why Rogers is stating this is because: 1) SAF is now $1 less than it used to be. 2) More competition from the current incumbents. 3) New competition that will hemorrhage there ability to get new customers. Yes Wind has to understand the reality of the situation. It is a phone, it takes a lot for a person to get to 6GB when only surfing, emails, streaming, gps, and other connected apps use the badnwdith. Only heavy P2P action gets you there, something these phones are capable of handling but the network was never designed for. What we want is the the releastic capacity that meets our needs. At 6GB it is too much, at 1GB it's too small a space to manouvre. 3GB is the sweet spot that I know my needs and my room for ...

I think $60 is also still not fair ... it should be $50 and less. Anything beyond this is a luxury price ... something phones aren't. The cost of data is the debate ... I think 3GB for $15 is reasonable and add it to the plan I see leaked for $35, we get $50 which is reasonable. Wind you have 3 plans for simplicity. But data can come in various flavors, please price it right and allow us to change the quantity we see fit.

Can't, one technology per frequency channel ... you get signals that will modulate each other if you try to squeeze two networks per channel. Rogers and Bell, and Telus can afford to do so because they have several spectrums, Wind has one. With two channels for incoming and outgoing.

It's more of a concern of network integrity. Will things hold if people begin replacing there internet connections for Wind? The USB stick internet would deliver speeds that are faster than landline ... and landlines clearly have more advantages over a wireless connection. 3G I don't think support an entire neighborhood on a single tower, because of the mobile vector that is the medium ... a person is expected to hop from tower to tower creating a balance. Now what we'll have is something comparing to a faucet left on all day on one tower.

The site doesn't have to be down for an update necessarrily. If they have everything prepared on a temp basis ... it's a matter of redirecting the moment it becomes necessary. Besides it is a bit early ... these things usually happen between 8:00AM and 12:00PM because they want a press conference before the site goes live.

The reason I ordered now is because of Promotional Christmas pricing on this splendid phone. True enough an a'la carte type system would of been much better from a user perspective but this simpler 3 plan route would avoid pricing confusions down the road. I see a lot of potential for "penalty" fees to be charged for people who buy a cheaper plan but get charged for going over the limited allotment. Plans are actually alright in terms of being superior to the incumbents. Unlimited voice and Data is like throwing the entire sink at the incumbents. The price that goes with it is also a lot lower to the incumbents when we consider the leaked plans. Would it help everybody, well obviously not. The leaked plans for me don't do enough to make data accessible. We have Rogers 6GB by mobile standards would be unlimited, and if Wind does unlimited at around $35 we don't have much changing in that regard. Seeing that only a handful can proudly say they are amongst the firsts. mccans it was discussed never concluded nor has any Wind spokesperson substantiated this. I haven't got my order dilvered yet but I wanted to do a write up of what could possibly be the cheapest way of getting the N900. Obviously it is through Amazon which has the phone currently listed at $549USD ... and the Nokia Rebate of $50 leaving the phone to be $516.00USD (there is a reason why it isn't $499USD) once you get your mail in rebate mailed back to you. Also it is a method of ordering, a step by step of how to obtain this US only phone. Will it be cheaper? Well I can only say this after the final step, I still haven't got mine shipped through Amazon as it is in backorder ... high demand not enough supply. Let me simplify peoples minds. The only viable strong candidate on Wind currently for a Smartphone is so far the BB9700, the rest are utter trash for an avid smartphone user. I hope that cleared things up ... if not then let me more clear and say that the HTC Snap is the ugliest, most useless (winmo 6.1), with a slower but same type of processor. If the two were priced almost similar I would obviously choose the BB9700.

Will that be the only store opening to sell to costumers tomorrow? Or all stores will be open for business simultaneously ... but the press event is happening at the downtown store? Now most would be compelled to say "too bad, too sad", but that is the reason why the consumer has lost power over the seller. Wonder what the deal will be with other outlets? Will Wind be coming to more places besides Blockbuster ... trust me these are very spread out for convenience sake. How about Wirelesswave/ TelephoneBooth/ WalMart/ BestBuy/ Future Shop/ The Source (now owned by Bell) ... any plans for distributing through any of the mentioned.

There are two trains of thought for this, one is that I'm paying more so remove the branding and unlock it. The other is that this phone is still subsidized, if not by a smaller amount. I can tell you for a fact that a BB9700 doesn't cost $450, it costs around $600+. I would rather pay the $40 or so it costs to unlock a phone over at Pacific Mall.

I have from Fido: 200 Day Time Unlmtd. Weekends starting at 6PM Fido 2 Fido (where most my friends have Fido) 1000 Canada Wide LD Voicemail 2500 Text No SAF, and No E911 for a grand total of $25 ... with Wind $35 I still don't get most of these benefits. If the Data rate was something,like 3GB for $15 which is reasonable then I would of signed up to the $35 plus Data in a heartbeat.

Well before we grab the pitchforks and run up to the HQ, we should wait and see there are alternatives coming and there are some good ideas within the plans but again not enough to convince those on the sidelines to leave. If Wind wants to make a better value proposition for the plans then they clearly need to go back to the drawing boards as this does not effectively make the incumbents come off as horrible. But don't lie behind the rationale of simpler plans just because you want to milk the many that fall in between plans or ...

BTW there is a spelling error on that page, last point it has "At this time, we aren't able to offer number "porting" for new WIND customers. When we are able to launch this service, there may be some customers who have issues with bringing their existing number to a new WIND accoutn." Account is spelled wrong.

The question was never will it work on Wind? It was why must one buy a crappy phone to be able to use the service? I'm sorry but I would have a hard time getting rid of a crappy phone such as the Huwaie. How is the 3G experience although?

So is everything up now for you? Quite the ordeal, definately seeing miscommunication and this is leading to a lot of confusion. The faq on number portability was hard to find ... had to search within a lot of other links. The online activation if it isn't working should be removed from the website, and the csr's instead of being apolegetic should be genuine and honest ... trained to apoligize all the time makes you lose confidence ... conciseness is an asset. Why couldn't there systems update wit your info already, it is not right to answer all of that ...

Not being on contract with an AWS 3G phone is still a technological lock in regardless. Well ateleast for now, DAVE is also AWS and so is Videotron over in Quebec. When they come online I guess Wind doesn't want there phones easily to be moved over to the competitor because they are subsidizing your phone by atleast 15%-20%.

mccans was right here reporting it worked, I wouldn't trust a person who doesn't even know what they are talking about. If you want it, then buy the Wind phone and transfer the sim out to the n900. Also how sure can we be that the user reporting the issue doesn't know how to use the n900. Try it, return it within the first 15days if it truly doesn't work and all is good.

Just because the dude joined a couple of days ago doesn't invalidate his argument. Wind and the hype machine around it promised things will be different. The only difference is now instead of a back load tax, we the consumers get a front load tax. Its wireless and they have to make money somewhere but Wind is sadly hiding its true corporate greed with a veil of deciet. Listen folks everyday that goes by, I am ever more convinced that the only reason for 3 plans is to make money off people getting into plans they do not need instead ...

So it has started hey it makes sense ... no contracts and people can't bring their own phone by simply just buying the SIM from Wind so this is bound to happen. But $100 is ridiculous, sell the sim for like $25-$35 and the phone separately. Hopefully unlocked Wind phones can eventually become popular to T-mobile customers if the phone is a Wind exclusive. Riiiight, wishful thinking on that part. There network will blow up as an end resultant. The 3G data prices are designed to turn away most customers belive it or not ... because the system could not take a huge demand especially in this all 3G network ... they don't have other spectrum to still push edge, or gprs.

agreed a 1000 times, 4 plans is not confusion give us a bit more variety. Or improve the 3 plans to bridge them. Like voicemail included on the $35 plan, or the $15 with more minutes preferably 200.

Agreed, I will tone myself down ... but my points are all valid. I hope they deal with them. * $15 to $35 is a big jump, a 4th plan is necessary * SIM only purchases must be available, or have a program to migrate your own phone over to the Wind network. * Data needs more options, an a la carte system that acknowledges peoples need for different values of usage ... Unlimited on a mobile device is a fallacy. $5/GB and let people choose how much they want ... that was easy? * No contracts are a policy ...

Also it isn't Unlimited Incoming for all calls, it's only for Wind2Wind. As copied from there own plan page: Unlimited WIND to WIND calling when in any WIND HOME Zone Unlimited incoming WIND calls when in any WIND HOME Zone Another issue I have with this is the redundant rewording of the same feature. Wind you do know the term Wind2Wind means both ways, that is the logic ... Fido2Fido has always been both ways and they don't try to list the outgoing and incoming portions as two different features.

No actually it is for me ... the middle tier plan I am advocating for the many I have spoken to ... whom would join but at $35 turn a way. For me what is keeping me out is the sim issue for which I hear will be resolved next week ... and secondly what is also bothering me is the data ... I don't want unlimited can you suggest an alternative?

Yes but how does it effect me today? I had a N900 coming; cancelled the order because of the ridiculous sim policy, now I hear they are changing this next week ... which is a good move. I want 3GB data, and this doesn't mean abolishing unlimited. We can have 2 data plans. Currently for voice plans there are 3 of them, blackberry data has 2 plans, and non blackberry data there is 1 plan ... which is ridiculous. By the way, why not negotiate on the length of the contract as well. Because Wind is no contract ... you should definately try to barter for a 1-2 year plan with the subsidy you would get for a 3 year plan ... that would be more worthwhile. Really again sounds like a raw deal not worth gloating about :( .

Yeah this system as it is now is not one that encourages discussion. It rather is a real time ticker of events for Wind. A message posted is irrelevant by the time it gets to the second page ... this is why every time we get this repeat question, "iPhone Support?". a threaded board would be a good thing, but it will need moderation and I'm sure they don't want to seem like Big Brother when the need comes to moderate a discussion on "Way of unlocking a Wind phone". I can see both sides of this and my conclusion ...

Yes but what is it that you are calling data? 500MB? 1GB? 3GB? Unlimited? Or is it just surfing? BTW, Wind's Data plan for phones is $35 and it is Unlimited not $50. To me I was hoping for something like 3GB for $15-$20 ... that would be the sweet spot. You are correct that you would have to pay more for the phone, but again a 3year contract is too long, you are still within the 15 day remorse period ... try and renegotiate a smaller contract term ... 2 years is something you should push for even if ...

The need for $25 is not tantamount to treason. There is a lot of people who see a jump between $15 to $35 as too much, sidelining them from joining. Does it hurt to have a $25 plan? At $25 introduce unlimited incoming, something the incumbents all but made extinct, plus call control, 100 talk minutes, unlimited network calling, and 250 text. You don't have to offer the full monty, just bridge the $15 to $35 gap. Personally if Wind wants this 3 plan framework then replace the $15 plan to a $25 plan so as to align all 3 ...

Apology for what? Having a limited coverage ... that was to be expected. What doesn't require an apology but rather a revised outlook is the plans and the phones. For phones, I'm sure it is by design to have a small selection and expand for 2010. Also companies have quarterly targets and budgets. These guys opened up 2/3rds into a quarter most of the planning was outdated by the time they implemented. A new quarter should mean a smoother pace of changes. They probably have a lot of buttons planned to turn on come this first quarter 2010. For plans, ...

I too now have a N900 and I too am waiting for better plans ... in the data department, like $35 for 5GB (unlimited but capped, means its not unlimited). Give me 3GB for cheap and now we are talking.

I come from the perspective of seeing Wind as being the creature I and many like me created. I've wrote to my MP and my government, and really raised the issue on blogs and news companies ... so now I see my role as a watchdog of the company for which I vouched for. I want them to deliver on the promise of true competition. I wouldn't mind being a lab rat, but fundamentally there was disagreement with the plans. Initially, Wind wouldn't allow us to bring our own devices ... and as an owner of a N900 I think ...

As a proud owner of said phone, I can't even begin to describe how much of a powerhouse this phone is. Wind should have it, it is an instant hit as a mobile platform.

I used a reliable source ... sparco.com . They are an American company that predominantly sells to government organizations. They carry only the Nokia brand, saw some old Palm Centros ... but not any Pre's. Anyways the price was 578 + 32 shipping + ~15-25 currency conversion + 86 customs roughly total is ~720CAD in total. I already sent out for that 50 credit they give back for registering with ovi, and so I hope my american address and number works out eventhough I live in Canada.

I have a magicjack number associated with my google voice account. Would be great to know why VOIP ports are blocked, like what is unlimited data if it only means the web port is open? I fully understand P2P ports and throttling using DPI tools ... but how about VPN, how about ports used by IM services or Voip?

Hey guys, yeah the phone is built solid and I love the heft of it, for some reason it provides reassurance. One peeve I have is that this phone didn't come with a satchel/ pouch ... and the case Nokia designed for this phone is quite possibly the most unsecured contraption I've ever seen. http://www.beyzacases.com/cat-uni-m-stock-clearance.cfm I was told these might fit the N900, in talking with the owner they do plan in making N900 cases ... but maybe in 3-4 months

The term "Superphone" is a term that Google made to stick on the Nexus One. Please people don't let them get away with coinging a stupid term as "Superphone". What makes it a "Superphone" and not a "Smartphone", nothing simply being faster doesn't change the name. Think of it like the PC ... the PC's of 93 are still PC's, although quite a slow PC by todays standard. Its what you can do with the item that defines it, not how much faster. I think the Nexus 1 looks ugly and the N900 looks sexy. I say this because I own the N900 and compare it to the Nexus One. No keyboard, and a horrendous style factor. The 1GHz Snapdragon is a plus although, but like as said previously the Maemo platform is truly open and as one stated you can even port open office to it ... although I don't think the specs could handle such a software even on any phone.

Ads are designed to encourage people who haven't made up their mind to make an impulse decision. If you are a consumer who knows what they want, ads tend to become a nuisance. Dialcentral is quite an awesome app, I've nearly converted all my calls through it. I don't have it forwarding to my Candian cell number though, it's forwarding to my magicjack then to me.

@TheDoros; I completely agree with you, and that is what I have been advocating for. People were against longterm contracts that were in the manner of 3years. I hate contracts, but I also acknowledge a subsidized phone is quite the norm in North America. Now a compromise would be shorter contract lengths, and this would especially have a better effect in the market in getting rid of 3 year contracts. Currently the incumbents can just say "sign 3years with us and get the phone cheap, or buy it expensive over at Wind and get no contract, the choice is yours". ...

I personally like the idea, give it time see if you hate it 6months from now. Definately it is something that puts you ahead of the market in terms of brand recognition. We are talking about what Wind needs not what the incumbents have. Unlimited is preposterous to get when you know your limits whether it be handset or usage. The consumer needs choice, not just one choice ... it's as if Wind has made the choice for us.
