Any customer bill of rights that does not include not charging usury rates for services (for example the markup on text messages), or not charging for functionality that is generally considered normal phone functionality (voice mail or call display, which is the equivalent of charging people extra for the use of #5 on their keypad), or not charging for made up crap like the system access fee is empty marketing hype.

Paying for caller ID is like being charged to see the "from" field on your email.

That is exactly what I want, and for what seems to me to be a reasonable rate. I would pay my early termination and take in a second. The beauty of this plan is that there would be no surprises and I would feel like I was getting good value for my dollar.

I think you are absolutely right. The issue is not just price, but the overall sense that I am being ripped off and taken advantage of. The fact that I have to pay for call display, that they tack on the ridiculous system access fee, the usury data (and voice and SMS) roaming charges, that evenings start at 9pm, and the ridiculous packages (WhoCalled? WTF?!) just make me feel totally gouged. I would probably be willing to pay the same rates as now in total, if I felt like i was getting a fair exchange of service for my dollar. ...
