This is a stupid rumour. Under the radar Rogers loves unlocked phones that are bought somewhere else!! Every phone Rogers sells through it's own distribution channels is subsidized anywhere from $100-$400. An unlocked phone bought elswhere has $0 subsidy from Rogers therfore they make money right off the bat, rather that waiting for the subsidy tio be paid back first.
Well, if the Sawaras win this then there is hope that the Verizons and AT&Ts of the world can enter Canada. It would mean the end of foreign ownership rules!!! Globalization is the name of the game as Globalive's name already refers to it!
@vonfunk understands this. You can go anywhere in Canada and buy unlocked phones from small merchants. This is not a illegal activity. Then you can go to Rogers get a SIM for $25 and they will gladly activate the phone. 10% of Rogers' base is already on unlocked phones. Do you think they want loose 800K customers for this? No way! The selection of unlocked phones will increase multi-fold next year.
Brilliant! Wind will have their work cut out for them.

Well. Alex Krstajic has already put a price on his company to sell out. 2 billion dollars. Now, of course you have to survive long enough so one of the incumbents would buy you out. Pleople need to realize that Wind, Public, Dave or any other carrier cares little about the customer and far more interested in maximizing profit. Hey, Orascom (wind parent) has little patience to see its Canadia division be a drag on the bottom line for long. They have 90+ million customers as is. A cash cow already.
Sadly Peter, Wind has no network in Quebec.
Wind is a division of Orascom.:-))) 91 million subscribers, not some small entreprenurial company.
Ed, you make a valid comment and the forum on this site is clear proof....people only think they know what they want....the one thing they do know is that whatever they want they want it for free or pay very little.
