I don't mind buying high-end unlocked phones, it's just a pain to have to wait for shipping lol. Also, I'm nowhere near the US so it's not worth the 8-9 hour drive each way just to buy a phone. Hopefully new phones come soon. Although I am going to Ontario in June and Buffalo is only a 1 hour drive from where I'll be... lol

They run on the same 3G network, but this phone is Edge. T-Mobile has Edge (2G) and 3G, while WIND only runs 3G.

If I recall correctly, you pay for the time between the 23rd and the end of the month, and the following full calendar month will be free.

I agree with the easy IVR system. Pick one of 3 easy options and you're in. No more "I'm sorry I didn't catch that" with voice recognition. Also, a callback option is definitely a must. Reps need to be consistent. Too many times as a client and dealer have I had contradicting stories from CSRs on the phone. Make one story and stick to it. Nuff said. Treat customers the same. Whether they spend $400 a month or a year, some people just can't afford what others can and should not be treated differently because of it. Have a better ...

Sweet! I really hope you guys can come up with a way to launch. I really want to get away from Telus, especially with all the crap I've had to deal with since switching to HSPA and their ridiculously overpriced plans. Sure I just signed a contract, but I can sell the iPhone for probably 90% of what it would cost me to break it. Small price to pay to sign with a company who will undoubtedly have fair prices and great customer service. Go Wind!

iPhones are junk. Had one for a month and the novelty wore off pretty quick. Hoping that the BlackBerry 9700 launch is true, as that will be my toy :)

Tony I am very happy that you guys are able to launch. I've been a cellphone enthusiast, and Telus fanboy for years. I am happy to see that Wind will be launching hopefully before Christmas and I promise that I will be in a Calgary store on day one and give your service a shot! I'll be a Wind Guinea Pig lol

I won't be there when they open, but I'm going to head up at lunch and hope it's quick. Also, I don't mind spending more upfront for the handset knowing that I'm not locked into a contract, and that I'll save money each and every month while getting a lot more bang for my buck! Don't you think?

Sweet commercial! Very well done and well said. Kinda reminds me of those Windows 7 commercials lol As for the negative comments, WIND has already shaken things up. Until their native coverage expands, we have to accept the fact that we'll need to roam. And roaming is not free. I believe that WIND will continue to grow and improve, and be in a great position to one day become the leader in Canadian wireless. All it takes is great customer service and great products/services. And for WIND, so far so good!

I'll do that for sure. If Toronto's goes all the way to Oshawa, York Region, Mississauga and Hamilton, I would hope Calgary's at least included Okotoks and Airdrie. If not right away, I'm sure they'd expand to at least that soon.

I'm getting spotty coverage up in Coventry Hills so hopefully with the towers they're building up, it will clear up my coverage issue quick.

Yep, I was there. They had the Microsoft Surface screen there to display phones and plans and it was really cool! I met Chris and Ken, along with some of the employees. A great experience for sure! I got there an hour early to get ready. Got myself a Bold, a couple of touques, a lanyard and a pen. Was nice to see the guys behind the service and I actually got interviewed by a couple TV stations and a newspaper.

Sorry to hear you've been having so much trouble. Why not call into Customer Service instead of complain on here about it? They'd be able to help you for sure. I've had to call in about something and they were helpful to me. I'm sure they'd be happy to get things straightened out for you.

My WIND Bold has WiFi working just fine. If you have the $10 social networking addon it gets disabled.

Hi Chris, thanks again for everything. I appreciate and respect your candid post. Not many companies admit their shortcomings, albeit yours are only temporary. I am confident that WIND will only continue to grow from mistakes, community comments and brainstorming from the great minds that put this all together.

If I were to guess I'd say there would be a new handset or two added by the end of January. They can only release so many handsets at a time. There are plenty of basic T-Mobile 3G phones available so I'm pretty sure WIND will add some of those to the lineup. Another thing you could do is find one of their site that you like, order it from eBay or if you live by the border get it there, and have it unlocked and buy a SIM from WIND. But I don't think you'll have to wait very ...

I'm pretty sure you'd just pay the standard 10 cents/25 kb charge, but BlackBerry Messenger uses next to no data, so you wouldn't pay very much at all to use it.

I don't get the option for Enterprise Activation. It's missing. When it does show up, it disappears when I register now. Hopefully it's fully implemented soon.

Droidhacker, I know what a BES is. Chris told me that BES wasn't supported yet when I got my phone. BES has to be enabled on your account with the proper SOC code which apparently now is available. Now that it seems to be supported I can hook my phone up to my BES :)

The WIND team is very good with reporting problems. They've done a great job of taking care of my concerns and it's only a matter of time before they fix the problems for all of us :)

I agree. It would be great to see a student plan for fall 2010. Gives WIND plenty of time to get the network issues resolved, more cities launched and then begin to have more selection. The plan idea you suggested sounds like it would be popular for sure.

It's the same system as they have in Europe. If you call a number in Europe it will ring the same way. Kinda weird, but that's what it is.

iPhone is overrated IMHO. Nice to see the Xperia and N900 coming though :) hopefully we get an Android phone within the next couple months.

Would be cool if WIND had caller ringtunes to replace that sound so people don't get confused. Or at least a message saying "Please wait while your call is connected" before that beeping starts so people don't get confused and hang up.

BES is BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Wireless realtime sync of mail, contacts, calendar, memos and tasks. Most corporations use it who have a fleet of BlackBerry devices and you can also buy hosted Microsoft Exchange email service that has BES as an option, which is what I do.

The Samsung Gravity has comparable phones you can buy from Telus and Bell for under $100 on prepaid. Not sure why it's priced the way it is, but I don't see why the price can't go down a bit. As for a cheaper phone, I'm sure a basic flip phone is coming. I don't see WIND staying at 4 handsets for very much longer. They know they have to make more phones available and I am pretty sure that within a month or two there will be at least another couple of phones. More than likely one at the top ...

Well with other carriers if you have the BB APN provisioned on your account, you need the normal internet one as well. And with that normal internet one you can access the web with other phones. I've done this with Telus and Rogers so I'm just wondering if the same holds true for WIND.

Well even if WIND did charge for SIM cards I'm sure they won't be priced over the top like Figers and Solo. At Telus is only $10 and Bell is only $5.
