On second thought I think he uses both. A BlackBerry from Rogers or Bell and a BlackBerry from WIND. The Rogers or Bell BlackBerry for business and friends and a WIND phone for personal outgoing calls used when in WIND Home Zone. That's what I think would be reasonable.

@Angelo_ I hope OS6 will have a lot more than a new webkit browser because right now when you compare any BlackBerry to a Google Nexus One I can't think of one reason to buy a BlackBerry instead of the Nexus One.

@Angelo_ High School kids have full keyboard phones. Most popular phones in my school BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry 8900, and BlackBerry curve. I know of no one in my school that uses a Pearl.

How about including Unlimited emails in the $10 plan. Would make a lot of people happy. I personally know someone who is not switching to Wind because of this reason.

@Victor. VoIP uses very little data. Any router will not have an issue with calls unless you are on dial up.

I'm on the Bell network with a BlackBerry and Google Maps was telling me I was in Malaysia when I was really in Toronto, Canada. What I'm saying is this issue happens with all providers.

Opethfan not all T-Mobile users have 3G phones. Only T-mobiles 3G phones would work on Wave but the old ones won't. For example when I went to the US i got a flex plan from T-Mobile. I put the sim in my BlackBerry Bold. and only got and EDGE connection. T-Mobiles EDGE connection is just like Rogers but it's 3G connection is just like Wave's. Yes some of the phones you listed will work on Wave's network like the HTC Magic, Dream, and Motorola Morrison. The BlackBerry you listed will be going to Rogers and ATT so that won't work. ...

no need to rush we havn't even began Beta Testing no need to confuse people and they will first try to get as many users as possible with wave and then open up Yak mobile. I don't think Yak mobile will launch at the same time as Wind Mobile. I say 3-6 month or so delay.

Roaming means that you are on someone elses network. In witch case their will be a fee as it costs extra for you to use that company. Example: You are a Wave customer and you go to the US. You will get extra fees as you are not using Wave's Network. I think what you are trying to say is no Long Distance fee's. In witch case I agree. It doesn't cost the provider extra to let you use your phone in another city in Canada so you shouldn't pay for it.

@Cole Maybe they can include 100mb in all plans witch you can't use for tethering but you can pay say $10 for 1 gig for any device, $20 for 6gb etc.

What you mean have great roaming rates. Well Roaming will take a while as Wind will need to make agreements with other providers and that takes a lot of time and negotiations.

5 GB for $30 a month is more than Rogers' promotional plan. Wind needs to be a lot better to win customers over. In Greece they charge 15 euro for unlimited usage with BIS or BES.

They will very likely have Android phones as their aren't to many AWS phones out there. So far I would love to see the new BlackBerry 9700 going to T-Mobile. The phone is 3G so it would work with Wind.

By free incoming I think you mean calls. I think they will do that as in Wind in Greece and Italy do have unlimited incoming calls. Well all of Europe has unlimited incoming calls. Or what T-Mobile in the USA did was great two. They have Flex Pay. You can choose any normal plan even BlackBerry and just pre pay it! I did that on my vacation last month and my BlackBerry worked perfectly. :)

Sorry but every single Rogers phone will not work on Wind. They use a different frequency. The only company that has the same frequency in North America is T-Mobile 3G. Also Wind won't be able to pay Termination Fees as they can't afforded, takes to long to make money back, and it's giving money to the competitors.

I agree. In Greece you offer unlimited data at 15 euro for BlackBerry BIS or BES. Offer that here. Maybe offer the same price but in Canadian dollars :) BTW 15 euro is a little over $20.

Everyone is getting them. I would tell them to cancel and give Bell a call and see if you can get IPTV in their area. Get the number off that site as many Bell employs are clueless about this service. Here is the site:http://entertainment.bell.ca/en/ Remember this includes internet at around 20mb down speed and 5mb up! For phone service I say go with Primus I think I pay $30 unlimited local calling and all options and it's not VOIP its using the actual Bell line as Primus leases the lines and as for mobile wait for Wind Mobile!!

Probably not. They s.u.c.k. No really I was joking, I don't think they can though. The Iphones made now run on a different frequency than Wind Mobile. But don't worry if you try a phone like a BlackBerry, you'll love it. Iphones can't even run Msn Messenger at the same time as reading an Email.

Videotron bought all the spectrum in Quebec. Wind couldn't as Videotron payed A LOT of money for the spectrum to not let other providers get any.

The technology they will be using will be with sim cards. Sim cards should be free and there should not be an activation fee. If as soon as yo get to the store you need to spend $70 only on the sim and to activate your plan, it doesn't attract customers. I don't think they will charge those stupid fees like Rogers and Bell do.

$35 is not a low cost plan. Low cost plan should be under $10. They have those type of plans in Alberta both Rogers and MTS had them. They also included free evenings and weekends and 200 minutes.

@christiand You always need to start low and Wind does realize that the prices we are saying here are lower than what we would pay. But really for just BlackBerry email $5 is reasonable. Especially when it will use extremely little data like 5 mb a month. And I would be ok with paying $15-$20 a month for Unlimited usage.

@tkatz It seems so Videotron spent $555 million on spectrum and most of it was in Quebec. Wind customers will probably Roam in Quebec and Videotron customer will probably roam outside Quebec. You will see a decrease in prices once they launch though.

Thats cause you probably have a BlackBerry :P which compresses data before it gets to you. This is why we need to have something like 50mb included in all plans and pay something like $10 for 2 gig of any type of usage.

Apple is not a good place to start. They are a ***** company. Recently they wanted to make it illegal to Jail Break Iphones because of national security. Of course everyone laughed. Also Apple had a tough time in earlier years. Steve jobs was once fired and was rehired 10 years later. Apple like locking everything down and not letthing the costumers do anything. You can't even install what ever you like on the damn phone without jail breaking it. If Wind becomes a Company like apple, I won't be joining for sure.

Your phone will also need to have AWS frequency. If it does than you can join. If it doesn't you can't. We should also include texting as unlimited for free since it costs the provider next to nothing.

If you just stay on the line I think it continues your call but tells you that it will be a long distance call. Thats how Rogers is at least.

You can actually get a Flex Pay account when you go to the US now and you can choose any plan you like. I went last month and I brought my BlackBerry along and signed up for the 300min package and unlimited BlackBerry data the cost was a little high for my liking but not even comparable to Rogers. $62 including everything. Sim is free, no stupid activation fee...

I think if Rogers changes something in their contract at a disadvantage to the user, the user can cancel with no charge. That's what's happening in the US now with ATT contract info change.

@iblastoff All new 3G phones going to T-Mobile will work on Wind. The HTC Magic is also this year Generation and I wouldn't be surprised if T-Mobile got the HTC Hero. Not Having Iphones and Palm Pres is not going to end the world. I don't even understanf what is so great about the Iphone it can't even run two things at once. Thats a joke. No all incoming calls need to be unlimited like everywhere outside North America. $10 unlimited texting? Thats crazy. I pay now $10 for 2500 and really are you going to send more? Texting should be free on all plans as its costs are extremely small for the provider. And give me a break, Wind can't charge for long distance. Also forget about using an old gsm phone. Coverage is fine... and long distance needs to be Canada wide. It doesn't cost the provider extra for you to place a call outside your province.

This plan would be good as long as it's 400 minutes and the following are included: 1. Per Second Billing 2. Rollover Minutes 3. MMS counts as Data since it is data (it uses similar technology to email) 4. all options like voice mail and caller id for free 5. TTY counts as minutes but the option is free Do you all agree?

@Anthony Mamdeen WHAT??!!! In the us if you buy a prepaid plan you pay $10 you get a sim card and $10 already on the card which means sim card = free. The rest of the world has them free. You can actually buy real Rogers SIM cards in packaging online for less than $10.

They are using GSM but with a Different frequency than Rogers. It's the same as T-Mobile 3G.

This won't work as not many phones would work on this network. (same network as 3G T-Mobile) People would be picking up phones on ebay and they would only work on Rogers. Wind would loose customers.

Well the Tour does have GSM but even with Rogers only EDGE would work. In a way it has 3G CDMI and 2G GSM. And anyway the frequencies would not work on Wind's network at all. @ru4real Buying stuff online is't the problem. Most people to buy online. I don't see why people think it's not safe. Buying on the phone is even less safe.

@Anthony Mamdeen oh lol well i'm a High School Student so unless they have something like testing phones or their network, I don't think they have anything I can apply for. I would love to test a phone (preferably a BlackBerry) on their new network though!

BlackBerry for sure has a 1700mhz phone. It's being tested by T-Mobile.

In the US their will probably be Roaming on T-Mobile 3G as it runs on the same frequency as Wind. In Canada where they don't have service, I think it ill run on Roger's network. They will probably require you to use a certain percentage of minutes on the Wind network.

I agree we should be able to pay more to buy the phone in full or on one year contract would be acceptable for me.

The phone isn't specifically build for T-Mobile, it's just a phone that will be going to T-Mobile. You might be able to possibly buy it unlocked but than unless Wind has BlackBerry Service, the internet on the phone will not work. If Wind does have BlackBerry Service they will have the phone since it's the only one that will work on their network.

@Anthony Mamdeen Well I was looking more in the testing side of phones and their network. I wish they had testing for high school students. High School Students really do talk a lot, text and use data. More and more of my friends are getting BlackBerrys and smart phones. I would also write a some reviews about the phone and network on websites and forums maybe even a youtube video. I would love to help out Wind a little and leave Rogers! I've used Palm, Windows Mobile, Sony Ericsson phones, and even a Nokia in the past and none of then are even close to the simplicity and efficiency of the BlackBerry. The only downside of the BlackBerry is the browser, which they are working on.

Wind will be available to the public by the end of the year probably late fall or winter. It also depends where you live. If you live in a town of 20,000 people you will have a longer wait.

Pre-Paid data could be good for people travelling to Canada and who buy a Wind sim card. They can do what T-Mobile did in the US and that is offer all their post paid plans as pre-paid plans as well. It actually is great for traveling and for people who don't want a contract.

Instead of asking me, I suggest GlobalWireless7 ask the "why would I waste my time doing all this" question to the same folks who mock up fake iPhone pictures and boxes. They'll have the answer. 1. @techMology Rogers customer service doesn't even know what a plan is. I called them up once and asked them for a plan without contract and they told me to go to the pay as you go options. After a few minutes she talks with her supervisor and then comes back with some completely ridiculous plans no contract though. On fido you can get a plan with out contract.

I recommend holding off for a few months until Wind comes out and as soon as Wind is out get a BlackBerry. Amazing phone people who love technology and are crazy for it love the phone but also people who don't know how to turn on a computer get addicted to the phone. It a great phone and easy to use.

You won't be able to keep your old phone. They use a different frequency. The phones will be with sim cards.

Hi Eryn, I have checked out WIND's career page but all the jobs are full time and I can't get a full time job. The handset tester job looked like something interesting but it is full time and I don't have the requirements. I was more looking more in the way of testing the cell phones features on the network, heavy usage to see if there are problems like dropped calls, spreading the word about WIND, witting some reviews on forums and websites, and keeping in touch with WIND to tell them about problems and whats good and of course ...

for they can do what Rogers did for pre pay. At Rogers if you call *225 you get a short message telling you how much money you have left. I don't see why this can't be done for all normal plans.

I think costs between providers are extremely small if any. I have an account and a phone number which I got for free online. So it's unlimited to all major cities in Canada. It's great people can call me at it even have caller id, voice mail and all this for free.

It isn't all about data but it is a large portion. I used to be with Teksavvy one of those third party providers but I called Bell and they told me I could get IPTV in which case I decided to switch as I hate Rogers and Bell IPTV (Entertainment) included really fast internet. I did go from using around 180 gig a month to about 60 gig but I guess I'm ok. I have to do less downloading and mostly just browse. I also wasn't throttled on Teksavvy like I am now but I do get speeds of over ...

@beer_wisdom Coverage is fine, well at least 2G coverage. I remember I was going to 1000 islands from Toronto and I checked my phone to find it say searching for signal. I checked two other phones around me and they had sign. Well what happened is I told my BlackBerry Bold to only connect to 3G signal. But really signal isn't bad. If WIND has the signal Rogers has ill be happy. Anyway Bell/Telus already have Canada better covered with 3G gsm than Rogers and they aren't even launched. Well how old is your phone? What make, model and what provider? I don't think Rogers has a problem with using your own ringtone. Also your phone does not need to be 3G to use your mp3s as ringtones. Wind will allow you to use your own ringtones for sure and all available devices will have the hardware features necessary.

Sorry but Wind won't be talking care of that. If you want to change you'll pay the transfer fees. It's not Winds fault you signed up for a 3 year contract. Wind is also spend a lot of money on actually building the network so they probably don't have the cash to give every user a few hundred dollars. I don't see how smart of a move it would be to pay off everyones fees. Giving money to the competition is never a good thing. Also the costs of this would create would move on to affect the consumer which ...

There won't be Iphones.. thats ok though because they will probably have BlackBerrys, so you can upgrade to a BlackBerry. Incoming needs to be unlimited. No unlimited incoming limited crap. People outside North America have it. Wind Italy and Wind Greece customers actually get rewarded if they get many incoming calls. Also long distance isn't needed. It doesn't cost the provider more to place a call from Toronto to Vancouver then from Toronto to Toronto.

@IA87 Your Battery will be fine. I have a BlackBerry Bold which is also on 3G and i set it to always stay connected to 3G unless I'm out of Toronto. Battery is never a issue. Just charge the phone every night. Battery usage is honestly not the most important thing. If a phone can last around 1-2 days of heavy usage it's fine and most 3G phones are capable of that.

It is very unlikely Wind would not launch... they have spent too much money, hired to many people, and they won't risk everything unless they knew what they were doing. @peter There are two versions of the BlackBerry Onyx (9700) and I don't think Rogers bought exusivity rights to both phones because one doesn't work with 3G on their network but it would on Wind's. Also I heard Bell had the 9700 in their systems.

They plan on offering cell service starting November 2009, but that could be delayed by the CRTC. At start it will only be in populated areas but as time goes they will expand. It depends on where you live. If you live for example in Barrie Ontario you might not have service for a few months but if you live somewhere in North Saskatchewan you many not have service for more than an year. Also their probably will be a choice of contract or no contract, roaming fees only if you go outside the country, and their probably won't be any surcharges. They will be cheaper than what is available now from other providers. My information is not confirmed but this is what is to be expected.

As long as they get that BlackBerry and the Nokia Wind should be fine. I know many people who love BlackBerry and I'm sure many people will love BlackBerry if Wind launches with that phone.

@Ron99 Great apps? Please... there are a few good apps but those are also available on BlackBerrys. Most of the Apps are CRAP also I don't know why people are ok with letting Apple decide what can be installed on your phone. That is ridiculous. Also how can that phone be able to only run one app at a time? My old HP 3-4 years old can run multiple apps. Give BlackBerry a try. It's obvious the only "smart" phone you have used is the Iphone.

Pay extra for call display and voice mail? It's free in the US and everywhere else in the world. Even pay as you go plans in Canada gets those features for free. Also paying for sim card? In the US people don't pay for them, why should we. They cost next to nothing. Even now days you can find Rogers/Fido sim cards for $10 online yet Rogers thinks they are worth more than $40.

Some phones have some of these features built in. Like if you have a BlackBerry and it gets stolen, you can call Rogers and have that phone's pin Blocked making the phone pretty worthless on any provider. Also it is very stupid for a person to not password lock their phones even if they are not from work.

The BlackBerry 9700 should be able to suit most of those needs. If you would like a device thats more focused on browsing the Nokia N900 would suit you better. Both devices work on their network but I don't know if they will be supplied.

@koop Remember these new players are going to have to fight each other as well. Public mobile release plans saying they will have unlimited talk and text for $40 so that is already lower than Fido's City plan.

That phone will not work. You need a phone with 1700/2100 frequencies like the Nokia N900 or BlackBerry 9700. Launch will be November/December. If everything goes as planned it will be November if not December. Watch this video for more information.

@joshua.maverick Thats because only Mobile enthusiasts know about it! The device isn't for sale from any provider yet. People will be interested in it if it is marketed well. I have/had (broke it) a BlackBerry Bold and I love BlackBerry but with this device launching soon.... and I can't wait! Even if Wind doesn't sell it, I and many of us mobile enthusiasts will be buying them one way or another.

Most phones will also work on Rogers network with 2G and that will probably be used for roaming but he was asking if 2G phones would work on Wind in which case no they won't because wind is building one network, a 3G network.

@bubs If you're asking if they are going to be using a sim card.. then yes they will be. Also this shouldn't hurt your changes to moving to Wind. The Nokia E71-2 isn't the greatest of devices. The Nokia N900 will be quite amazing and the BlackBerry 9700 will be really nice too. I'm sure you would love either one of those.

I agree. What we say now won't help much to alter their plans or phone selection. They will probably keep this site up until they release information regarding plans and phones. Their official site will probably be wind.ca as it forwards you to windmobile.ca for now. Training for employes starts next week so were getting closer and closer. I for one can't wait until you launch. I'm using a broken phone and can't wait to get a new phone and have service from a new fresh provider. Hopefully you guys will have the Nokia N900 so I won't have to ...

You will not be able to use your Nokia N97. It is not Wind's fault but the phone simply doesn't support the network. However Nokia N900 does and Wind will probably have the phone since there is so much hype for it. I also hope they get it but in case they don't we can still buy the phone from other places like the US or some websites. I do think they will have this phone. People are really excited for it. I'm personally a BlackBerry fan boy but this phone made be ditch the idea of getting a BlackBerry 9700 which also worked on Wind to really wanting this Nokia. Nokia made an amazing smart phone too! The Nokia N900 is amazing. Here is a review http://my-symbian.com/other/preview_n900.php You should check out the link. This is what frequencies are used in Europe: GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100 In Canada Rogers uses: GSM 850 / GSM 1900 / UMTS 850 / UMTS 1900 Wind Mobile will use: UMTS 1700 / UMTS 2100 The Nokia N900 will work 3G in Europe, 2G on Rogers, and 3G on Wind.

Your phone will require both and need to be 3G. That Nokia will not work. The only Nokia that I know of which will work is the Nokia N900.

@koop I got my BlackBerry Bold for $340 last year on craigslist. I don't think thats expensive when Rogers was selling them at $200 with a 3 year contract. Also in Europe many companies allow you to buy the phone in full at a normal price.

@migo Thats not true T-Mobile in the US is gearing up to offer $50 unlimited everything if their network can handle it (which isn't very good) than so can Wind's brand new network. Plus T-Mobile is getting the Nokia N900 which loves DATA! We'll see what results T-Mobile has. This could very well be released as a planed leak by WIND to get people to understand what Wind is all about and tell people what some of their devices will be as people have been going crazy over device updates. The "leaked" info shows nothing new other than some of the handsets they will be featuring. A little disappointed about no Nokia N900.

@migo Why would Nokia offer it to Canadians when Canada doesn't have a network compatible with the phone yet. There are websites that will ship to Canada which sell the phone though.

1. Very little amount of phones avilable in Canada right now that will work on Wind's network. Unlocking phones won't help them at all. 2. They will not buy people out of their contracts. You got yourself into it.

Not going to happen. It won't be fair to people who stayed hard out of a contract. It's your own fault you got into one. Plus they can't afford to give $400 for even half the customers subscribing to them not to mention if they give you something I will be the one paying for it as well. The simple answer is you should pay your cancellation fees and switch without the help from Wind.

Even if you are on a contract and you get the phone discounted in the end the plan will be more expensive so in the long run it could be more. Ex. Same phone and plan Phone $300=$30 plan Phone $100=$40 plan

They have set their prices and plans but what do you expect? Their planned launch is next month! Their is some information about Wind which is easy to find online. So far the plans and features look pretty good.

They are planning of taking care of this by roaming on Rogers areas where they don't have towers. They will probably charge you long distance for this as Rogers will charge Wind. Charges will likely be much lower then they are now.

@mabdinur Thats pretty good considering these points: - Not many people are on this site probably around a few thousand (the site currently has 4955 members - The phone is not advertised at all by Nokia or anyone else - The phone isn't even for sale in Canada - The phone isn't yet released - Until Wind launches this phone would only work 2G on Rogers

Well Verizon had something similar but more expensive. http://www22.verizon.com/Residential/FiOSInternet/Plans/Plans.htm Personally the only thing that bothers me is not the speed but throttling and my 60gb max bandwidth fees. 500mb is NOT a lot. I am not sure what plans will be available but they many just have unlimited data plans and thats it nothing lower. By the way email uses very little data. More like 20mb a month for email.

You should be able to use your own email client but it is true the email will go through RIM's servers. So the simple answer you can use it as long as your email provider has pop3 or imap settings (all email providers do). Do a google search with your email providers name and Blackberry setup and see what you find or settings might be located on the email providers website as well.

@Armani G Even though all boxes are on, only 2 can have HD on at the same time so if I have 2 boxes on HD one 1 on SD speed still stays over 16 mb. I haven't had a speed test under 16mb. Bell says they have me on a 30mb profile but the maximum speed ill get on the internet is around 20 or so mb. So they is no problem having all TVs on at the same time as downloading something. Out of the 60gb a month the TV doesn't use any. Bandwidth used by the TV ...

@Armani G Well all 3 boxes can view HD just not all at the same time. I think that my connection is fast enough for 3 HD streams but bell just wants to be sure. But 84Megs is crazy but would love that speed :P The Bell representative told me about the $30 caped charge but haven't reached it has I have slowed down with downloading (used to do 150gb+ a month with Teksavvy). I'm pretty happy with pricing so far, hopefully they won't increase it though. Rogers will have some crazy completion over digital tv and this service.

What is fishy is that Industry Canada approved Winds foreign ownership structure and and took Winds money. That meant Wind had the spectrum and could launch. Next Telus, Rogers, and Bell come around and beg the CRTC to redo the foreign ownership review. CRTC agrees. The CRTC rules against Wind. What is fishy is both the CRTC and Industry Canada looked at the same laws and rules when making a decision. Another problem is if the CRTC wanted to do a ruling on Wind's foreign ownership structure, it should have been done last year at the same time as Industry ...

I didn't find it :( can't take credit for it. I found about it on the Howard Forums posted by Jonavin. http://howardforums.com/showpost.php?p=13147507&postcount=1 Well all providers who have a BlackBerry on their line up have a similar website for users. The idea is the name of the provider and then .blackberry.com For example: Rogers: http://rogers.blackberry.com/ Greece Wind (I think): http://wind.blackberry.com/ The important thing is Wind would have had the BlackBerry 9700 (T-Mobile version) as thats the only BlackBerry which currently work on their network.

Sim cards should be free. They hardly cost the provider anything. The rest of the world has them for free even on pre paid.

1. Wind will probably alow you to use your own phone as long as it's compatible with their network. Wind will probably give you the sim for free as long as you get a plan. 2. Yes a sim card will be required for any phone on Wind's network. 3. Yes the phone will roam on all networks Wind has agreements with. 4. In Canada Wind will have their roaming agreement with Rogers. All phones that work on Wind mobile, will work on Rogers network in 2G mode (edge) 5. Nokia N900 is a great choice for a phone! :P

@mccans The N900 will not work on Rogers, Fido, Bell, Telus or any other provider in Canada for the time being in 3G. The phone will work in 2G mode so you can still make calls and use data but data will be slower. The cost of the phone is much less. A lot of what u said is completely wrong. 1. Globalive's structure of ownership seemed to satisfy Industry Canada. Industry Canada is who sold the spectrum to Globalive and Industry Canada did look into Globalive's structure of ownership. Industry Canada and the CRTC both looked at the same laws and rules when making a decision for Wind Mobile. 2. Globalive does not operate in Italy. The big investor in Globalive is Orascom, who operates in Italy and ownes 50% + 1 share of Wind Italy. 3. TIM is owned by Orascom. Orascom is also the big investor in Wind.

@DeathAbyss Unlimited On Device data would be fine. It is very hard to abuse that. Also it is possible to get unlimited Data at home for $40 from teksavvy. The only reason Bell and Rogers don't offer unlimited is for the same reason as why we pay high prices for cell phones. No competition. Also the government in Canada is not helping by not investing in fiber or anything that has to do with the internet. Many other governments around the world are.

What he is saying is he wants to be treated like customers who are on contract. Contracts guaranty the provider that you won't leave them their for they sometimes do give you a better price on a plan and phone. If he leaves and takes his phone to someone else he is going to be treated the same. They will make him sign a contract for him to get any sort of "deal". Well it seems that Industry Canada delivered their verdict on Globalive in March 2009 when Globalive was already being financed by Orascom and Orascom had 65% of Equity in ownership. In the leaked information their was one "simple" phone. The SamsungGravitiy 2. It should be priced as a low end phone. For now still no information on pricing but if you want just a phone for the lowest price on Wind this is probably your best bet.

Sorry but your contract won't be bought out by Wind. It's simply not fair for you to get $400 and for others to get nothing plus Wind's costs are spread out to so I would end up paying for a part of your cancellation fees and I don't want to do that. Do a search and you will find what others have said about this issue.

I think plans should be kept simple. I hate it when I read about someone on CrackBerry that got this amazing retentions deal and I'm stuck paying twice as much as him for half the features. When a Wind customer will post something on a forum in the future about his/her plan I want my plan to be the same. Depends on kid but parents really shouldn't put restrictions on cell phones. I personally had a cell phone since I was in grade 4. No problems.

I don't think reWind is worth it for Wind right now as their are not many phones in Canada which will work on Wind. Also I a have a pretty good feeling Wind's plans will not subsidize your phone. If you want to subsidize your phone your monthly bill will go up. I love this idea since I always bought my phones in full and never got a discount for it. Prices can go significantly down. Remember Wind is running without contracts that means the phone will not be subsidized. That by it's self should bring monthly costs down by at least $20.

Wind's Network will be 3G but those phones will not work. Wind is running on the same 3G frequency as T-Mobile US. Go to their website and filter by showing only 3G phones and you will see what works on Wind.

@Tammy Flores Your phone will not work. The phone doesn't have the correct frequencies. Wind will run on UMTS 1700 / 2100 (AWS). From what I know the BlackBerry Word runs on GSM 900 / 1800. Their is also one more reason why your phone won't run on Wind. Your phone is only 2G (EDGE) Wind will not have a 2G network only 3G. Almost all phones in Canada will not work on Wind. Haha nice they put you on their Blog. Personally I don't see Public Mobile being too serious. Their target audience is shrinking as the days go on. More and more people are getting smart phones and data. I would be surprised to see Public Mobile in 10 years unless they buy more spectrum and completely rebuild their network.

The review should have been expected though as one of things which the big three would do to try to delay Wind. That's why Telus asked for the review one month before Wind was due to launch. For this trip around 12,000 system access fees had to be collected. Personally I don't have a problem with a company spending money, paying people well, and bonuses as long as the company follows some Ethics. By that I mean cares about the customers and employees.

Its not as simple as it sounds. The application needs to be built for each phone.. different OS, screen, etc. As long as they have a good website to view usage i think their is no need for an app.

It could work but I doubt you would want it. For two sim cards you need two plans anyway. What you could do is get one plan for Wind Mobile and sign up for a service that forwards your calls. I recommend you sign up with http://freephoneline.ca/ it's free but if you want to bring in your number their is a $20 charge and they can forward all your calls. So what you should do if you want to get rid of your home phone line is sign up for a Wind Mobile plan and get a freephoneline account and ...

Virgin Mobile Canada was always owned at least 50% by Bell. Now days Bell bought the other 50% so Virgin Mobile is 100% Bell and Controlled by Bell.

You are not cheap but normal. We in Canada just have our standards to low. Even in the US when I went on vacation and got a Flex Pay account On T-Mobile for my BlackBerry I payed $60 Included 400min unlimited evenings and weekends, unlimited data, nation wide calling, and $5 for texts. No stupid sim card fees or activation fees.

I don't recommend using their wireless network for internet but if you want to be with Wind for internet jut get yak internet. Yak is owned by Globalive so here is the link http://www.yak.ca/high-speed-internet/ Wind wireless internet that would connect to a router will probably not be available at launch.

Alright thx for answering. I just don't understand how Industry Canada and the CRTC could come to a different conclusion when they were both ruling on the same laws. Hopefully Tony Clement will make the announcement soon. I personally am feeling pretty positive by what Tony Clement (especially with what articles were saying on the net today) is saying and hope he makes a decision that will allow Wind to launch soon but then again I felt pretty positive about the CRTC and we all know how that turned out... Virgin Mobile is 100% owned by Bell. But if you got a super basic cell phone, I don't see the use of the camera on it, the camera probably took pretty terrible pictures anyway. My only recommendation is get a better phone :P This is one of those things the "big 3" will charge for ever as it's not a deal breaker for anyone.

Storm 2 will not work. Not all BlackBerry 9700 will work. For now only the ones sold by T-Mobile US work on WIND. The BlackBerry 9700 sold by Rogers, Bell, Telus, and ATT will not work on Wind.

@np T-Mobile will get the Iphone probably shortly after AT&T's exclusivity ends. Thats just my opinion nothing to back that up. Personally, I don't like, the Iphone, I prefer a phone that can do more than one thing at a time (multitasking) and isn't completely locked down by the manufacture. Their are two phones i'm interested in right now that work on wind the Nokia N900 and BlackBerry 9700.

Hey No Problem I'm not sure about the Dry Look charge but when I was with teksavvy I remember their was a charge. Since you are in the market to get away from the big three. I'll tell you what my personal opinion is for Internet, TV, and Home Phone Service. For TV I strongly recommend Bell Entertainment. They will only have one BlackBerry. They will have the BlackBerry 9700. That is the only BlackBerry that works on their network. Also to Kuttysark cell phone pricing is not the problems, it's how much it costs monthly. ATT is not making any profit by selling you the phone at $70. They actually loose money but because they charge you monthly, in the end they get their money back. I also would like to know what phones WIND will have as I'm going to the US in less then two weeks and I will be buying a BlackBerry 9700 or Nokia N900. It would be great to post what phones you will have. @sl People who know of the N900 usually know it will works on Wind. The N900 will not be made for ATT or other bands. Their is a BlackBerry that works on Wind so no problem with people asking for one. Only people asking for the Iphone are getting a little annoying.

@Johnn Well even if you make the exchange rate %10 you are still paying under $600 for the device and thats still over $130 less then what Newegg Canada charges you. The drive and wait is worth it if you don't mind driving or want to take a short trip. Personally I will be travelling to Buffalo because I found amazing prices for plane tickets so I'm flying from their. As for Canadian Border Services. Wind has nothing to say until Tony Clement makes his verdict. He can say his decision by the end of this week but if he doesn't it will be late Janurary before we hear from him again. I personally believe he will make a decision that is positive for Wind Mobile.

It does not work on Bell or Telus. The N900 will work on Rogers or Fido but only EDGE. Telus and Bell have no 2G network. This phone will work in 3G only on WIND Mobile and Dave Wireless.

People this phone is CDMA and only has 2G for providers that use a SIM card. WIND doesn't even have a 2G network. The only BlackBerry that will work on WIND is the 9700 sold by WIND or T-Mobile in the US.

No you don't need to get a data plan. There is no contract. You pay the price for the phone than you choose whatever you like for voice and if you want data. If you are not happy you can always leave as you didn't sign a contract.

Have you tried the phone? The phone is only good for texting and it's not perfect at that either. Give the phones on Wind Mobile a look LG Neon will not work on Wind or Bell or Telus since it's 2G and it will only work on Fido or Rogers.

Wind Mobile launched a few weeks ago. As time goes on they will get more phones. For now I recommend the BlackBerry 9700. The phone really is great.

@ sparkyERTW If any changes are made to someones contract in Canada for cellular services, the subscriber now has 1 month to either cancel there service for free with the provider or if they don't do anything within the month they silently agree to the changes to there contract. This law was passed a few months ago after the texting fee was introduced.

It's 10 cents a minute after 100 minutes. So for 100 extra minutes $10. With Bell 100 extra minutes add-on is $12.

They will not increase it because if they do you will be able to switch to a different provider. When did your contract ever stop Rogers or Bell or Telus when they started charging for incoming texts. Even now Rogers, Bell and Telus can change your contract only difference is if they change it now you are allowed to leave with out paying fees. To answer your question they can raise there prices but they won't. Any company can increase there price when ever they want.

@ PureLove It wasn't just him writing emails to our MPs and Tony Clement but the emails were showing the government what the public wanted. Telling our MPs, Prime Minister, and Tony Clement what we thought about the CRTCs decision was the only thing we could do. I don't know if it made a difference but at least we did something. The people who have been here longer do have a better opinion on Wind as they know them for what they are doing and not what there network or phone selection is like.

@fakse information Bell Canada had roaming agreements with GSM providers before they even launched HSPA. They had roaming agreements so people with world phones like the BlackBerry 8830 or BlackBerry Storm could roam. The provider didn't need Bell's roaming so it didn't sign a roaming agreement so that that provider could roam in Canada. Wind can get a roaming agreement with anyone they wish. @MacMan BlackBerry will not change that. All data that does through your BlackBerry also goes through RIM's servers which cost RIM money that is why you need a data plan if you are going to use a BlackBerry.

Maybe it doesn't always work. But if you do get it to work only the browser will work. (you need to set browser default to mobile hotspot)

@ Canadianman16 Windows is terrible at servers that what we have Solaris and other linux OSs for. Linux systems are great for there stability and because they are lightweight on the machine. For normal usage and normal users Windows is great and beats both Apple's OS X and Linux.

The Big three can give you that. If wind wants me, they need to include unlimited incoming calls, unlimited text, and unlimited on device data. I would still be paying more with Wind compared to what Bell offers but I would be happy to switch.

@WindyN900 $15 for Email and BBM only is still a rip off and would not be bringing anything new to the market since as you said all the other providers have it. Unlimited on device data should be $20 especially for a BlackBerrys since these phones don't use much data and the $10 social plan should get email included.

Remember back when Telus had unlimited data for BlackBerry at $15.... That was just two years ago. If I was to get unlimited data on WIND it would be $35. I'm a supporter of WIND but someone really screwed up the data plans.

If I were you I would stay with what ever company you are with. I'm also on a corporate plan which WIND can't beat. On the other hand if you don't like your provider, want to try a new network, want unlimited data, or a phone which doesn't work in 3G on Bell or Rogers WIND Mobile is your choice.
