So I did my part and I sent a complaint to the CRTC referencing Telecom Decision CRTC 2009-678. I told them that I understood the reason for section 16 of the Telecommunications Act. However, as a Canadian consumer I felt that Globalive should be given a pardon to put Canada one step in the right direction as far as quality of life in comparison to other industrialized countries. Has anyone actually been reading the entirety of Mooks posts? What he suggests is the option of a fair contract. not an unfair contract as everyone can agree is what robellus does. Wind, I understand the concept of having a "no contract" persona. why not introduce something (call it something other than a CONTRACT; maybe a payment plan) that sets people up with a 2 year "plan", that subsidises ONLY the phone. meaning, the only extra cost is the cost of the phone over 24 months with no interest or any other fees; This must be emphasized. well, I had a Nokia 3500 Classic. I suppose it had good reception, but its firmware was a POS and would reboot randomly while I was talking. I sent it for repair, got it reflashed and still the same problem. Nokia told me to F off when I asked for assistance. I told them that I would never buy a nokia phone again, and I'm going to stick to that; for a while at least haha.

@ WTW, if I didn't get the data plan, and just let Wind charge me the 10cents/25kB, does google maps really run that up quickly? I have no concept of how much data viewing a map takes. @ markjaycee, thanks for the tip, I checked out the website and it looks great. I read on another forum that the Opera browser is much faster than the standard one. may be worth checking out.

I find my huawei takes about 3-5 minutes before the GPS actually locates the phone. the top right says "updating location" once thats gone, you can tape the blue dot. It gets the job done, poorly, but it gets it done. something is wrong if you can't see the zoom in/out buttons and the blue dot or menu buttons on the botom

Synonymous to the always talk plan with a data add-on (data is 150 mb/month) (plus extra text messaging, which I don't care but often go over 50 texts). it works out to $45 just like my current Wind plan: always talk ($35) plus data add-on ($10) Correct that the iphone 3g isn't supported anymore, but neither is my Huawei and its just as old and operates much worse. PS. I originally type these messages with Paragraphs, but it seems this comment system removes line breaks.

Ok I checked my notes, Its the Fido, valued customer plan. I was with them for like 6 years prior. I told them to call me back, and they haven't yet, I don't think I'll go chasing them. $30 unlimited calling and incoming in home zone call display, voicemail, 2500 text messages, + $150 dollars. $15 data - 150 Mb, + 10 cents per Mb afterwards. I tried this argument a while ago. It would be a great idea for wind to get people to convert (most consumers are stupid consumers). Sure, I guess its more of a administrative hassle for wind. However, I'm certainly not going to put it on my credit card. I'm trying to avoid interest payments, not accumulate them. Getting to play with the phone would probably be a selling feature for me. At this stage of my life, $600 is still a lot of money for me. I'd rather test it out then to buy it blindly.

the 3 year contract is if you go with an iphone or simply choose to go on contract to "lock" that price offer. When given the same offer, I was told that the price is subject to change whenever so the contract would guarantee that price. I stuck with wind...

@cp9700: the difference of Wind doing Layaways than me saving in my own piggybank is that With a wind layaway, I will purchase the phone now! instead of later. This isn't great for me (the current wind customer) but it would certainly be a major selling feature to bring in new customers.

ya its about $15 dollars cheaper per month, and to my understanding for the same service (correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't check the mobilicity site) maybe wind can offer the discount if you match the always shout with the unlimited data add-on
